I want to just delete my Discord, FB, Reddit, Second Life and other social sites so I can just be focused on myself. But I can’t because the guilt of seemingly deserting those I have left, will be hard to deal with.

Stop “working” as in regular day job. There would be so many things I’d like to do and help other people - aside from that I am also medically severely disabled and it would be great to have the time to live better.

But no chance, gotta be “productive”. (even though not USA but at least I’m not broke because of the circumstances)

The worst part of capitalism is that it is violently coercive. You need to be profitable to someone else, least you become destitute, starving, and eventually homeless, and likely even die on the streets.

My personal irony is that I already died once and it made me bitter and people expect me to be thankful, which in itself is a loop I could get lost in.

You’re back and well, well you know what to do. Work!

I’m also medically severely disabled, but finally got on a disability pension after years of work.

What kind of things would you do to help people? I feel like anything I could do, I can’t, because of said disability. If I have the capacity I rarely contribute to open source software and projects, but that’s about it.

There’s a house for the elderly close by. I could help them with company or tech - aside from that tech help for those who got left behind would be a great thing in general.

Own a home, be in a long term relationship, have a career worth a shit.

I’m turning 40, “uneducated” because I never “found myself” and had to support myself right out of highschool. Single for almost a decade. Working a dead end factory job. It’s not happening. :/

I also went right to work after high school. Some of my jobs were dead-end as recently as 2020, but I found better work in which I can flourish. I’m also in a wonderful relationship and got married, in my 40s, to someone I met after a long time alone and a long-term abusive partner before that.

      Things can get better.

(I’m a city-dweller who will probably never own a home, though. Fuck real estate prices, but at least my apartment isn’t bad at all.)

I pretty much gave up on dating, “no one” seems to be able to find what they’re looking for and dating parasites apps have made the issue 1000000x worse… When your world of potential dates expands dramatically and they’re all a swipe away the dating pool becomes a buffet table and the perfect dish is just one more swipe away… And another swipe… And another swipe… Pass on all these people, the next will be the perfect one… And another swipe…

the problem is people have impossible standards, not just for dating, but life in general.

and if you don’t live in that perpetually unhappy head space, they think you’re a loser.

Not be alive. I’m passively suicidal. I don’t have a plan. I’m not going to do anything. I very much know how screwed everyone would be if I wasn’t here. I make a lot of people’s lives very much better by my actions. I also know that I would miss out on a lot of fantastic experiences (I want to pet fluffy cows so much).

However, my life isn’t worth it for myself. I’m middle aged. On the whole, it’s been more negative than positive. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some amazing highlights. I have wonderful kids and some amazing memories with my spouse and moments in my childhood, but it’s all outweighed by the bad. The bad is cumulatively worse than the good, it’s net negative.

You deserve to be happy and healthy too. Don’t martyr yourself; not even for family.

I did the same thing. Bound by obligation, burning the candle at both ends for my family, until the flame flickered, and everything fell apart anyway. You need to find a sustainable life, both mentally and physically, that brings you satisfaction; not just resentment and exhaustion.

      Feel free to DM me.

Jesus man, first of all, you might be an asshole

You waffle immediately from shaming someone for being mentally ill into advocating that they be violent.

We’d obviously all prefer that people aren’t suicidal, and yeah we want to help them. I know I want to live in a world where nobody feels they need to take their own life.

I don’t think suicide is automatically selfish though, you don’t know anything about this person’s life. Demanding that somebody continue an existence that they find miserable in order for you to not have your feelings hurt is pretty damn selfish though. Do you think that making somebody feel bad will somehow make them feel less bad?

And the real bitch of it is that cheap homes are in those places that generally don’t have jobs (of any kind, really), and good jobs are in those places that generally don’t have cheap homes.

And this wouldn’t be such a problem if “good jobs” still provided an annual income of more than ⅓ the cost of a “good home”. But they aren’t. They’re much, much less these days.

So we can’t even really use the second half of that aphorism anymore.

I feel really sorry for anyone younger than GenX. Unless you’re a nepo baby of some kind, you got seriously shafted.

I am not stupid. But was in a terrible enviorment in school which is why i sucked in school, am only now discovering my many passions and why i didnt continue school. Because it was a devils circle. Bad enviorment -> no motivation/drive -> bad grades -> more self dislike and repeecussions from the bad emviorment -> no motivation aso.

i had a pretty terrible experience with my CC run, somehow this is one of many CC in our area decided to have ivy league level courses, that they claim for some UC to accept(mostly in the critical areas that people need to transfer with, STEM, english). while the nearby state uni dint have that same issue, and its far easier as far as classes go. so this cause alot of people to drop/withdraw courses all the time, or change majors suddenly.

several incidents were noted in the past, that people attempt to return to campus after academic dismisal i dont know if this the only CCollege in our area, people stay way past 2+years.

non-scientist(who arnt majoring physics ,engineering, or astronomy) physics college classes(the one requiring lots of math/trig) were too complex for me eventhough i passed it, even though i liked the subject. too many intricate calculations and concepts.

if you plan to major in it, you need to do higher math courses for it.

Math is one of the main reasons I didn’t go for anything science related. I need to understand HOW something works in order to retain it. Every math class I ever had was always “when you see x36h638f then do the formula 362h+gsue6-8226g/h7383 because stone cold said so.” …like how the fuck am I supposed to not only memorize that completely abstract nonsense, but remember how/when to apply it?? My dumbass brain doesn’t work that way

physics and chemistry both required convoluted abstract thinking, and deriving formulas from. i went to a CC that decided to make most of thier stem closer to what harder colleges took, ivy league level

its true about history, and it is ill advised, unless you are planning to do asian history as part of your graduate program. because western history has been done to death by phds , and if you want to be academia. i saw a post a sub, how a person was obsessed with only doing history but was “disappointed when he was told by his professor there is next to no job market for history, let alone western history” wierdly still finished the degree as an undergrad, but gave up on “life” because he couldnt see himself do anything else. because history is so saturated as well with so many graduates, and working in museums isnt appealing to people with history degree.

architect might have problems from what ive heard too,
