Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do people like about Star Trek Voyager?English
0·25 days agoLike the other two, it takes a season or so to find it’s footing. I like a female captain, former enemies working together, and ship out of water stories. The redemptive and maturity arc of Paris, and his friendship with Kim. The Doctor and 7 learning what it is to be human. Chakotay’s beliefs aren’t made fun of, but explored. The hopefulness that even thrown across the galaxy, humans can (most of the time) stay true to their beliefs. That you can overcome your upbringing to become a better person. There’s lots to like.

Linux@lemmy.ml•When did you start working around with Linux?English
1·9 months agoI first heard about it in about 1994 when a Unix guy I knew told me about a type of Unix that could run on regular computers. He loaned me a POSIX book, but I didn’t really hear anything until 98. I started getting fed up with all the problems with Windows 98, and I started installing it and breaking it on any machine I could get access too. I don’t know how many floppies I formatted with each disk image of RedHat and Debian. I broke the school network a few times with things like accidentally setting up a DHCP server. I sent a patch to the kernel. I Learned a whole lot those first years.

You can select which files you sync. I have a couple of folders that sync everywhere, and some are only synced on one machine.
