Every food commercial, advertisement, and packaging in the US is currently protein obsessed. I just bought 3 burritos, and the most noticeable thing on the entire package is its protein content. TV commercials about waffles are advertising that they have X amount of protein per serving. The products in my jobsite’s vending machine have protein all over every package.
Did America have a protein thing recently?

Only in observational epidemiology with meaningless hazard ratios less then 2 in carbohydrate heavy populations.
Your political biases do not transfer to a dietary pattern used by people globally outside of your local political theatre. None of the “science” would say causation, observational epidemiology CANNOT establish cause and effect, it can only generate hypothesises. The papers themselves are very careful about this “linked, associated” they avoid casual language.
You need fat, humans are lipovores - so a meat with high levels of saturated fat (such as salmon) would be a good option for a zero carb diet.
How about you read my comment again, recognize that I already addressed that white meat is likely fine - then do some research about prominent carnivore diet practioners.
Spoilers - they aren’t telling you to eat fucking salmon.
I read your comment, and I’ve read extensively on zero carb - yes - Salmon and red meat are healthy foods in that eating pattern.
Red meat is not healthy.
