The German Bundestag last week approved a new law that significantly expands the powers of the federal police by providing the scope to use drones, artificial intelligence, and increased surveillance of telecommunications. The law also makes it easier to incarcerate immigrants due for deportation.
Necessary to prevent even the slightest criticism of a certain country.
Federal police is responsible for border controls and trains.
Its predecessor was named “Bundesgrenzschutz” (federal border guard) for reason.
Edit: The other predecessor was the Bahnpolizei (railway police).
That’s not the task of the federal police (Bundespolizei), which is the scope of that law, though. (It would be of the federalcriminal police (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA) or the secret services.)
