They are correct to criticize liberals, but not correct to give conservatives a pass as being “simpletons”. Both factions are more often of the same faction than they’d generally like to admit. There are ignorant people of every faction everywhere, but in terms of the power brokers, conservative and liberal in the imperial core are mostly performative or superficial disagreement and join hands when it comes time to do empire things.
Years ago I used to talk politics with two of my coworkers, one is a sovereign citizen kind of right wing, the other is a vote blue no matter who lib.
The chud was so much easier to talk to, maybe because he was older and actually valued other people’s ideas, but I could relate with him on a topic, we could both agree that something was an issue, he would just misattribute blame or think the solution was something else at the last stretch.
The lib, however, oh boy. He constantly denied things that were very obviously true. “The economy is terrible right now” would be met with “ermmm well actually the stock market is at all-time highs!” completely oblivious to the fact that more and more people were being priced out of basic necessities. It’s always smug contrarianism with them.
In my opinion it’d be easier to radicalize the masses in the deep south, at least they already have distrust in the media, unlike liberals who cite CNN / CBS / NATOpedia as the truth and cover their ears whenever you provide information stating otherwise.
It can be hard swaying anybody. I suspect a lot of it comes down to: 1) getting them involved in organizing, not just agreeing on some things and 2) being holistic by going for framework of views, not just some surface beliefs.
Cause like this part:
we could both agree that something was an issue, he would just misattribute blame or think the solution was something else at the last stretch.
Yeah, there are people I can get agreeing on some things, only to realize later I don’t think they agreed as much as I thought and are still pretty different in views on a fundamental level.
Honestly liberals are also genuinely disinformed and ignorant but they LARP the demeanor of a smug academic. Conservatives and liberals, it’s the all same misinformed ignorance just with different aesthetics.
Liberals are the smug academics
Idk if you live around a lot of liberals but the overwhelming majority are not academics, some just went to college and maybe grad school. I’ll concede most smug academics are liberals but it doesn’t work the other way around.
On the other hand the venn diagram between misinformed, ignorant simpletons and academics has a lot more overlap than you might think
The overwhelming majority of people who I interact with are “apolitical.” That is to say, they don’t vote.
And yeah, libs are conceited. They believe having a degree, let’s say, in software engineering, means it translate to having a sort of universal knowledge that makes them correct about everything, regardless of what they studied.
Most of the right wing ignorance is also willful. They are both shitty to others on purpose, just in different ways.
Some “truth nuke” where the average liberal is apparently just as evil as their counterparts in the ruling class while the average conservative is simply a misled child that poses no harm to anyone or anything.
Klanadian gains class-consciousness.
Liberalism is narcissism. Democrats are covert about it and conservatives are overt about it.
Bam! 💥
Yeah. It’s like the difference between the psychopath who really isn’t aware they’re doing anything wrong, although the general reaction may indicate people don’t like the behavior for some undefined reason, and sociopath, who fully understands what they’re doing is wrong, and why, plays innocent while doing the wrong thing anyway. Gross overgeneralization with the sociopath/psychopath analogy.
Malcolm X quote about the fox and the wolf
Yeah but this is a little bit more accurate.
Idealist take and not even particularly good within that framework.
Politicians of both sides represent capitalists, primarily, maybe with slight differences in which subsection of capitalist interests they prefer. The social ideological label mostly identifies which values they have to give lip service to in order to get votes.
Working people that identify with either label, whose interests are not represented by the politicians, are all class-unconscious. (The petty bourgeoisie, landholders, and many of the PMC have mixed interests that are usually represented in government to some degree, although their class consciousness is usually distorted and fragmented).
If anything, a random worker that identifies with conservatism is more “evil” than one that identifies with liberalism, because they’re both misled, but the latter is misled to believe their representative can do good things (healthcare or whatever) while the former is misled to believe advancing misogyny, racism, homophobia serves their interests.
And a random “middle class” (petty b / landholder / PMC) that identifies with reactionary politics may actually be more class conscious (i.e. aware and happy for the fact that they benefit from exploitation and hierarchy), compared to the liberal that has a false belief in progressive potential within bourgeois democracy, in ameliorating the consequences of exploitation without losing their privileged status.
This smells vaguely of the nazbol undercurrent that’s been growing on the tanky deprogram subreddit over the last few months. Conservative oil-working straight white men in Texas are the true revolutionary class, blue-haired baristas that voted for Biden and refuse to give me their number are counterrevolutionary.
1.People here will say this and then also promote third worldism. Idk, kill me
2.How are liberals more informed than conservatives?
white moderate quote fox wolf blah blah nothing new under the sun (for what its worth im not denigrating the idea)
I think they’re similar, I just think conservatives are more openly fascist, chauvinist than liberals are most of the time. I mean, liberals are that way when it comes to foreign policy (domestically, a lot more underhanded efforts are taken), conservatives are like that with everyone (“America #1”).
