  • In 1997 everyone knew we were in a bubble. Alan Greenspan the Fed Chair publicly called it “Irrational Exuberance. ” If you got out of the market then you missed a market doubling and left significant upside on the table. It was insanity and everyone new it, much like today. There was a trend of people quitting their jibs to become full time day traders. Its easy to make money in an up market.

In the dot com collapse the effects were mostly felt in the tech sector. While the stock market slumped there was not a wave of banks failing. There were a lot of layoffs in the tech sector and IT jobs were hard to come by.

  • What size model? I can run 8 billion parameter models on my Geforce 3070 with 8gb of vram. Bigger models need more memory. For $1-2k you can upgrade to a 16 or 32 gb video card. For $3k you can get a Framework Desktop with 128 gb unified memory. For $6k you can get a DGX Spark with a blackwell chip and 128 gb unified memory. Mac mini or Mac studio are also good choices in this price range.

IMDB reflects popular opinion. Everyone has unpopular opinions, heck I liked the Emoji movie. Also, for some niche movies the ratings are wildly skewed since only die hard fans are voting on them. And for some movies where there are strongly held opinions, many people will pile-on and vote on them without even having seen the movie.

All that said, IMDB is a useful tool for getting read on popular opinion on movies. Also, IMDB is standing behind me with a gun to my head. Send help, please.
