Ive had it make me a few iphone apps to sideload, a crossplatform manga reader with the goal supporting all backups/extensions/repos and having every paid feature all those apps have, it works suprisingly well, even implemented internet archive as an extension. Haven’t tested anything other than mihon, komga, and suwayomi support but that works well. Mostly just get stuck in a loop testing and tweaking the ui for hours.
Also an rss reader with hidden/pinned categories and the ability to rearrange feeds, multiple pane views with the ability to dynamically rearrange the layout on the fly, I fking love it, I couldnt find any that let you hide categories which led to me having it make an extension for freshrss, eventually just turned into making an app. It fits all my needs for an rss reader and is seemingly stable.
Couple blender extensions too, they dont create anything, just speed up my workflow by adding options that used to require workarounds.

If he had contextualized it differently, framed it as archiving the work, he’d be praised lol

The bots are literally the equiv of one user mass downloading/viewing stuff, shouldnt be that big a deal, scraping in general happens a lot with ppl using stuff like ytdlp through web frontends. In this case its mostly text too, its not like he had thousands of bots (feels like you’re conflating a few bots scraping some text and audio to kids doing ddos attacks)

You can make that tool in minutes with any agent, just have it tag based off your criteria and run it through a vision model

Lemmy’s hateboner for llms is odd to me,it makes sense to hate generative ai, but this is using deepseek, a chinese open weight model anyone can run with the right hardware or api/subscriptions. Opencode go is 10$ a month for like 80$ of deepseek credits a month. Cheap, attainable, not harming anyone, no profit being made.

Was that the appropriate tag? I disclose it’s AI generated in the first sentence.

I had the ai take a screenshot and it searched vintage mensmagazines, it was a screenshot of 6 hardcore gay porn magazines in the search.

I realized a lot of stuff I do can be automated or given a frontend pretty easily with just deepseek v4 flash and it’s pretty good at making extensions, just have to babysit hermes or it’ll go off on tangents or misunderstand your plan if you aren’t careful.
It’ll try to do the most overcomplicated solutions for simple things so it’s best to read the docs for stuff yourself a bit first. (I wish it was more of a just tell it what to do and it makes what you want process, but it’s close enough)
Frontends that do exist tend to be overcomplicated for my needs or not user friendly, sicne they don’t bother wasting time manually coding that.

Its not that insane or creepy tho, ppl do it all the tome when sharing streaming profiles
I hate ai companies and how they push ai but ill be damned if it isnt useful as fk for all my niche use cases that were never getting solved by anyone else because I cant afford a dev team or even a fiverr developer. (not that they gave good results, or were actually cheap based off yt videos ive seen) No more hoping for a solution to pop up that fits my needs. Just ask and modify, everyones fearmongering had me scared it was going to be ridiculously unstable or some sht. Idk how ppl can’t see ai can be incredibly useful, especially now that it’s not the garbage it was a few years ago when they first tried to push it.
I’m an it bs grad who cant find a major related job, likely because of ai, hate it deepdown but it still feels like a disservice to myself to not use it to customize everything I use to actually fit my needs. The option is there and I know it works now. When I have an issue it’s like who am I benefitting by not getting it solved.
