Page loading speed is interesting. Your link only tested on mobile. A few days ago I did a non-scientific test, on desktop, (just me browing on piefed) and I thought lemmy was faster. But I may be wrong, or it was just instance specific.

This is not about an instance, it is about a project.

And also, different people have different metrics for what constitutes “best”. Picking what one would think is “best” would not crash an instance. What are you talking about…

It is still important to support the better project, be it with our attention, or with our money/donations. What “better” means here depends on the metric.

Again, in this time and age, specially with everything going on around the world, I would hope that there is more thought about using/buying something.

Ya, I think if it were the other way around, the nice devs using Rust and the not so nice devs using Python, the decision would be much easier.

Help us make this a better place. We need to increase the userbase, so smaller communities become viable. You can help by:

• talking about lemmy/piefed outside of lemmy/piefed
• engage with lemmy/piefed. By commenting and posting. Preferably in posts that have few comments. Reply to people.

This would not be such a bad idea, honestly. Or just some small stickers that people place on their laptops.

However, I feel like we should see who comes on top, lemmy or PieFed. I feel like piefed might be our best option tbh. The lemmy devs don’t seem to be open to ideas, not to mention their whole stance on politics.

It is possible to increase the userbase without inviting the whole world. Lemmy may have a bigger learning curve than, say, Instagram, but that is fine. Maybe not having people who can’t understand how lemmy works is a good thing. There are, however, many many people who would understand how lemmy works that have not yet learned about it or have but are not using it. Those are the people to whom we should cater.

We should still, of course, improve the UI/UX as much as possible. Though I feel like Piefed is better for this. Lemmy devs are not receptive to suggestions, not at all. I tried. If the idea did not come from their heads, they reject it.

Specifically, vaccination for herpes zoster. I will be trying to get my parents vaccinated for that. Dunno if they already are… Is it a “mandatory/suggested” vaccine in the EU? I need to check.
