I think there was a Japanese study that shown that pen and paper is superior in terms of memorisation even to handwriting on a tablet (in addition to the well publicised fact that handwriting is far better than typing for that too)
I wish we had more info on the subject. Definitely got me to switch back to pen and paper from my iPad, and anecdotally I think it’s worked out well for me.
I wish Framework had an option for a mechanical keyboard in there, although I understand that would mess up the whole rest of the design to accommodate it.
Can’t you “just” set up openvpn or something ? I’m not sure what CloudFlare tunnels do, I’m a bit of a control freak so delegating to CF always seemed like it’s against my principles or something x)

I tend to prefer getting the apps directly from the code repositories via Obtainium, but I use F-Droid to search for apps !

I agree. We do have to be quite careful about the optics thing, though. It’s not enough to be on the side of the people, the people also have to feel like you’re on your side.

I have a Glove80 keyboard on my desktop, it’s very easy to stay put since the keyboard is made exactly so your hands are on the home row.

I had an extension that removed those, amongst other things, but that part broke. Most video comments on YouTube are incredibly stupid, I’d rather just not have to see them.

If you want, you can install /e/os (any phone) or GrapheneOS (Pixels only) to de-google your Android as much as possible !

The problem of course is that, bad as it may be to think this way, people (including me !) absolutely do think this way by default, unless consciously making the effort not to.
Maybe this can be deconstructed, but until then we need a good dose of “Realpolitik” that takes those biases into account, at least if we want to achieve anything concrete.
There is some truth to the “us vs them” between elites and the people, and the current elite is (somehow) very good at making a big part of the people they oppress think that “actually, you’re part of the elite too !”
