The main concerns are:

• It’s mainly developed and funded by red hat a company owned by ibm which has made a lot of bad decisions over the years (of the top of my head I remember their distro’s source code was made available to customers only)
• it’s one piece of software that does a ton of different things, this is generally considered a bad thing as it increases the attack surface for potential vulnerabilities but as far as I understand, since it’s one of the most maintained software in the Linux ecosystem the probability of it having critical vulnerabilities is probably still pretty low

That being said, if it works fine for you and those problems don’t bother you there’s not much reason to use something else.

If I remember correctly they didn’t say that no other phones would never be supported, but yeah unfortunately for now the ability to put graphene on lower end phones is still quite far away

I mean maybe they genuinely do mean well and will let trans people use the bathroom they want, but from what i understand from the new policy the company is the one that decides which gendered bathroom people can use and they could decide to exclude trans people from the bathroom which they prefer to use. I guess we’ll have to see what happens, I hope I’m just being overly cautious

I know it was specifically for war crimes, if you read my comment again you’ll see that I mention that I believe that line of thinking should also extended to laws that perpetrate systemic inequalities. Then you mention that that defense only holds if you weren’t under duress, do you seriously believe that this company is under more duress than the Nazis were ?

Finally, I agree that boycotting the company won’t change change the law, but first if the boycott is successful (which I do agree it has little chance of being) then companies that do this and see it impacts their bottom lines might reverse course, and second if I see a company is complicit in taking away my rights I won’t want to give them money

Mugging generally doesn’t cause systemic injustices, complying with a mugging only hurts you whereas complying with fascism hurts everyone, especially minorities. The Nuremberg trials found that “just following orders” wasn’t a valid defense for war crimes, I don’t see why that couldn’t be extended to other forms of orders/laws that systemically hurt people

Edit: not to forget the Nazis faced much more of a threat if they didn’t comply than people do now under the current UK government

Something not mentioned in the article is that in 2024 he voted for a transphobic law that would have prevented minors from being called by their preferred name in school.
