  • It’s difficult, I used Juche as a communist argument because in the philosophical sense it addresses the existence of humans and the role they play in the communist transition. For contrast ML only touch on the systematic changes needed before the transition can occur.

    I don’t think we have any nation is on a path towards communism for what it’s worth and I believe the new elite just take the role of the oppressers which is why Juche is so important.

    DPRK pretends to adhere to this by allowing independent thought on the direction of society but fails to uphold it by not allowing independent questioning of the regime. As a farmer they could say we should grow crops x on your farm this year and you can say you don’t agree because you grew crop x last year and need to grow crops y to bring nutrients back to the soil. However if they say you are growing crop x then you can’t question it. I’d be free to discuss how the regime can best implement Juche and say that can do more but couldn’t write this post or say what they’re doing is wrong.

    Autonomy is also taught as a collective rather than an individual. The Korean people are free to choose their future without interference from China, Russia, USA.
