The original claims by the (right wing) think tank are at their heart an unfair and disingenuous comparison.

They compare the take home pay minus tax, minus NI and minus student loan repayments to the combined pre-tax benefit payments to a couple with 3 children where at least one of them is medically unfit to work.

So no, someone on universal credit and PIP cannot earn more than someone working, only if you do roundabout maths does it add up and the people who most need to hear that won’t read anything beyond the Daily Mail headline.

Reminder that 99% of think tanks are just organisations that pay for studies that help the owner’s ideological goals.

Always look at the owner of the think tank and people involved and decide if it’s just propaganda before you listen to a word of reporting that originates with them

It’s funny how this is meant to be right-wing slop to get me outraged about le benefits, but even if this was true (and I believed it was till I read the comments below), I always just took it as a condemnation of our awful economy and wages.

Immigration outrage comes from the powers that be via the internet, but our free falling standard of living is immediately obvious and easily observed to anyone under the age of 50.

The awful shape of our streets and our people is a stark reminder of the fact that less than half the actual population is in full time employment according to ONS (25 mil out of 69m total), combined with non-existant growth since 2008, even when measured in GDP per capita.

The only growth has been in sectors that block growth in other sectors, every well meaning regulation passed by Labour of yore turned into a privatised cottage industry where taxpayer funds are funneled into endless consultations where everyone skims off the top, yet bureaucracy is blamed while no one is accountable for anything when the buildings fall.

This country has two paths forward, the future and a nightmare. For the former - Vote Green.💚✅
