Today I saw a Wero advertisement at a bus stop in Germany. Apparently a campaign to increase brand awareness.

Seriously? Has anyone, in the history of money, been “euphoric” to pay something?
I mean, I’m happy we face PayPal, but couldn’t it have been a Lil less dumb?

The point of advertising is to make an impression and it did with you
Unless I’m absolutely not in the target demographic to “pay things”, that isn’t really their desired outcome to just have “engaged with me”.
Besides i never see ads at all. And outside I just ignore them.

Honestly I’m happy anytime i can pay back a colleague with wero instead of PayPal. And when i finished the wero setup i was so excited to immediately try it with a friend. It’s not the euphoria of paying but the euphoria of not having to use PayPal or MasterCard

Actually I saw two different ones. This one says something like: It (already) clicked at 55 million (people).
Saw this yesterday at a train station.
Good they are raising awareness for Wero. Only about 4 in 10 people (in germany) did know what Wero is used for (Source: www.tagesspiegel.de)

Surely someone in the history of money has felt euphoric while paying a pimp or a dealer.
But on a serious note, I suppose the person who made this is privileged enough not to be thinking of how expensive groceries are now.

Greenland technically is part of the EU and has a border with Canada. So it’s not that far off as well.
Greenland is not part of the EU.
Greenland even left the European Economic Community in 1985.
Nowadays people are getting more and more interested in EU membership, perhaps that will come one day. But even though Greenland is not part of the EU, the people are EU citizens.

Great way to waste money. It would be more useful if banks implemented it (mine does not).
I noticed a lot of Wero advertisements at train stations etc as well, which is great to see! I already use Wero quite a lot for p2p payments but its availability in a commercial setup feels kinda limited. Only online store I successfully used Wero to pay so far was Decathlon. I know there are quite a few others that support it but some truly are so obscurely niche that it’s unlikely I’d ever buy anything there 😅
Wero hasn’t fully rolled out yet. Decathlon uses one of the few PSPs that does support Wero already. But for a fair few countries a kind of “big switch” is planned, but it takes a lot of coordination with many financial institutions and banks to make it happen. Once that happens you will see it supported across way more online stores.
