It’s apparently doing nothing to avoid slavery-sourced materials. By buying a new phone from a company that uses slaves in the mines you are actively supporting slavery.
Different people can have different opinions on things, but for me slavery is very condemnable. I would only agree to buy a new phone from a company (such as Fairphone) that does not use slaves.

The MP02 4G basic phone with a signal client looks pretty interesting if it weren’t for the fact that it has a locked bootloader.
What’s wrong with the bootloader being locked? It’s only a problem if it can’t be unlocked and also relocked again.

No. As I said, only if it cannot be unlocked.
Edit: My Fairphone has a locked bootloader too. I could unlock it, install another Android, /e/-OS, and was perfectly able to relock it again to prevent unauthorized manipulation.
I’m pretty sure that when people mention a “locked bootloader” it’s refering to the fact that we can’t unlock it at all. What you are describing as it being locked is the default everywhere. What almost no device at all supports is the users being able to unlock it.

I’d be better off buying a second hand old android and sticking GrapheneOS on it.
