As inventories run dry, the only remaining market lever would be demand destruction, which could curtail economic activity around the world.
Energy markets have handled the chaotic first half of 2026 remarkably well, but with global fuel stocks now running worryingly thin, the global economy finds itself dangerously exposed.
That’s the key bit right there, they’ve been amortizing the energy shock by pumping oil from the reserves on the market, and once those run dry then the real fun begins.
Yep.
Living through the very long, drawn out collapse while trying to maintain optimism is very much an exercise in being able to consciously hold two conflicting thoughts and emotions, simultaneously. It can be tiring, and after the morning’s annoyances, I very much want a nap.
Indeed, like on the one hand we see that the collapse of the empire is objectively a good thing, but on the other, we have to actually live through it and all that entails.
The key for me has been to combine the two, it isn’t that the light must defeat the dark, like in Christian “good and evil” culture, but that the light and dark must work together, the light illuminates the path, and the dark has the experience and strength to weird the sword in defense of humanity, the dark alone cannot see the foe to strike, and may only see shadows that are bigger than what is real, the light alone only knows how to live in the light, and cannot handle the dangers ahead, only together can one see things through, the fight exists within us just as it exists without, growing up in this environment our minds have been colonized and must be decolonized before we can advance our fight past ourselves into one of solidarity with those who have reached the stage to do so, Marxist Leninist Dialectical and Historical Materialism applies to the human mind just as it does everything else in nature for it is how reality itself even works, even space/time is in a dialectical relationship with each other. This has all been most relevant to me on a deep level, the trauma that split my mind made an injury within me that only this path can heal.
And that’s what psychological integration and individuation is, as well. For instance, I can acknowledge my parents did me real harm, and in turn I did harm to my own child. It wasn’t intentionally, it was using the tools we had available at the time.
That’s why I can say my love for blood and “soul” family is unconditional, but access to me is not. And there’s where I wrestle with how to try to organize my very small, very poor rural community.
