Edit to add my opinion so I’m not just replying “I agree” to 90% of comments. I think it should be legal, properly regulated, taxed and viewed as a profession. I haven’t personally engaged in it but I have no moral objection to it. I do hate the common sentiment that it was the individual’s “only option” though.

I’m just having a hard time believing that many prostitutes are doing it because they want to. And I mean actually want to and not because they’ve got other choices. Plus there’s a huge amount of human trafficking and outright slavery in the industry, but that’s hopefully something that can be addressed with regulation.

Idk man, I feel like that’s work in general. Like would you be doing what you are doing right now if you could just do whatever you like? Or if you just a better choice?

A lot of us are just trying to make ends meet with whatever tools we got. I don’t think making prostitution illegal is gonna help the ones we want to help, but regulating it could. The focus should be having the working person to be the one in charge, not johns or brothels or any other third parties.

How many different professions does that apply to, though? If I had a choice, I wouldn’t be working my current job, and most of the sex workers I’ve known were doing it for the same reason. Not a whole lot of people get to choose their jobs
