No, a grifter is a con artist who uses charm, deception, and manipulation to swindle people out of money or possession. Hasan fits this definition down to the letter.
You say Hasan swindles people of their money. How come he donates so much of what he makes then?
You are a shit-lib libtard that has no working brain. Either that, or you’re a troll or bot paid by foreign actors. Either way, your propaganda isn’t working as can be clearly seen in this comment section.
Hasan is a beacon of hope for young men that don’t have many other high profile male role models to look to, in a sea of Andrew Tate’s and Nick Fuentes’s. He believes in an alternative to the destructive system of capitalism that most of the world lives under. He is the answer for progressive politics in at least the US and really the whole world.
As soon as the winds shift his direction, you won’t be calling him out. You’ll be supporting him. And then you’ll be the mindless, grifting minion you hope no one will notice that you are now.
You say Hasan swindles people of their money. How come he donates so much of what he makes then?
Why do billionaires donate money? It’s for PR.
You are a shit-lib libtard that has no working brain. Either that, or you’re a troll or bot paid by foreign actors. Either way, your propaganda isn’t working as can be clearly seen in this comment section.
I like how you’re so mentally inept that you’re literally incapable of producing a coherent, logical response. I guess your brain collapsed at the thought of doing something like that and this verbal vomit of a response is what it produced instead.
Hasan is a beacon of hope for young men that don’t have many other high profile male role models to look to, in a sea of Andrew Tate’s and Nick Fuentes’s.
I like you unironically think that these 3 shithead grifters are the only role models out there for young men. I was just trying to insult you before, but you might actually be mentally inept.
He is the answer for progressive politics in at least the US and really the whole world.
He’s not going to let you tap lil bro
As soon as the winds shift his direction, you won’t be calling him out. You’ll be supporting him. And then you’ll be the mindless, grifting minion you hope no one will notice that you are now.
Please leave me out of your weird fanfics. I’m merely calling out grifters as they for what they are. If that ruffled your feathers then that’s on you.
Feel free to drop evidence that supports your claims. Shouldn’t be hard to find since you say he does this quite regularly. Almost all of Hasan’s life is on camera, so again you should have plenty of clips.
Hasan wears nothing but luxury clothes and Jewelry. We’re not talking about normal brands that are a bit expensive because they’re good quality, no, we’re talking about the ultra high end designer brands that create artificial scarcity to inflate prices to a comical degree in order to sell the idea of exclusivity. He constantly brags about it on camera too. For example, here’s him talking about a buying $7000 Gucci suit on a whim
Hasan also launched his own clothing brand that he sells at exuberant prices. His gimmick is that the clothes are union made domestically, which he uses to justify the ridiculously high prices. He also runs a lot promotions and sales events, which means that he’s not selling his merch at the minimum necessary to keep the operation going in order to give his customers the best deal. Instead, he’s selling at a very juicy profit.
There’s many more examples, but you get the idea.
Unlike most people, my criticism of him is actually very specific. I don’t think he’s a grifter his host of vile views or his provocative ragebait content or even him making a lot of money doing what he does. No, the grifting comes specifically from the stark contrast of how he lives his life vs what he preaches to people. Because that deception is precisely what makes a grifter just that.
A lot of his fans try to dismiss this criticism by saying “oh but he has to participate in society”, but nobody is saying that he shouldn’t. I am not one of those people who thinks that he’s a hypocrite for not living in abject poverty. It’s completely reasonable anybody, including socialists, to seek a comfortable life in a capitalist society. However, there is a very big difference between participating in society and living in luxury. The former is something you have to do, but the latter is a conscious and unnecessary choice. Which again, would’ve been fine if he was honest with his audience… but he isn’t.
Hasan’s career consists of him selling people criticisms of capitalism as well as the idea of socialism on camera, being the epitome of a neoliberal capitalist outside of it. He wear crazy expensive designer clothes, he buys mansions, he buys sports cars, he companies that sell products for a high profit, and the list goes on and on. He directly benefits from, enables, and defends capitalism with his actions. Yet he’s preaching to people that this system is very bad, that materialism is killing our planet, that the profit model is the source of evil, that people should live from ability to need, that the rich are the source of society’s problem because they only care about themselves… he’s literally everything that he criticizes. This lucrative hypocrisy is what makes him a grifter.
When you really think about it, what makes him different from someone like Ben Shapiro? His left wing views? Okay, but what about in the abstract? If you remove the type of content they pump out, how are these two any different in their grifting? They’re both selling people bullshit ideas that they don’t believe in in order to make a profit.
Hasan buying a Porsche Taycan, a house in LA, and high line clothing doesn’t mean he’s a grifter. Hell, it doesn’t even contradict his being a socialist.
Hasan gets his money from his fans. He doesn’t own stocks. He isn’t invested in real estate or any other industry aside from the one he obviously gets most of his funding from: political commentary. He doesn’t rug pull his followers by introducing cryptocurrency or NFTs, which many if not most grifters have done, including Trump. Hasan doesn’t acquire capital in any way a “normal” capitalist would. His getting funding from his fans actually allows him to stay independent as a political commentator and be free from corporate main stream media and the US State Department pushing American-first propaganda. There are many benefits to being funded by his fans. He just has so many fans that people mistake that for his being a millionaire. He is, but being a millionaire in West Hollywood doesn’t mean he lives an extravagant life. If you want to criticize him for that, then criticize all of West Hollywood and California in general for making housjng that expensive. You choosing not to shows your bias.
Hasan likes cars. Hasan likes clothes, so much so that he started his own clothing company that just so happens to be union owned and operated. You say that his clothing brand is expensive because they want to run it for a profit. I’m sorry, but what the Union does and doesn’t do is none of your concern BECAUSE THEY STILL OPERATE IN A CAPITALIST HELLHOLE OF A COUNTRY. If Ideologie were to operate in a society like China, perhaps they would be able to drive down prices while at the same time paying a living wage to their workers. You’re ignoring the cost of living in California, and instead of wanting to fix that, you’re belief is that people should just move away or stop what they’re trying to do although. Painful mindset. Also, Hasan bought the LA house at that price because West Hollywood is really that expensive. And you conveniently failed to mention that Hasan bought such a big house because he wanted his family to move in with him so he could provide them a home and support them in general, like they did for him. You failing to mention these things shows your bias.
Hasan has these things, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still a socialist. People arguing that Hasan should walk the talk and live what he believes fail to understand 2 things:
living like a socialist in the US is a quick strategy to poverty because the American government doesn’t have things like Universal Basic Income (UBI) and the cost of living is astronomical, and Hasan giving all his money away would mean he can’t afford to do what he does; instead, he uses the fame and fortune he’s acquired over the years to push for progressive policies like more taxes for the rich (including himself) and a gradual transition to a socialist state; you don’t see capitalist grifters arguing for this, they are keen to use fascist ideas to continually fuel capitalism; and
socialism doesn’t mean that all economic spoils are equally distributed to all people evenly; Karl Marx said that socialism is “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need”; socialism doesn’t prohibit the possibility of millionaires and rich people if those people earned their fortunes in socialist ways; what socialism does prohibit is the outsourcing of the means of production where ownership and operation of the economy are divorced; just look to China where this version of “market socialism” is allowed to exist and evolve.
So since you provided evidence that doesn’t really make your argument, I’ll bring some of my own:
Hasan buying a Porsche Taycan, a house in LA, and high line clothing doesn’t mean he’s a grifter. Hell, it doesn’t even contradict his being a socialist.
Yes, it does. He is a colossal hypocrite. He doesn’t live by any of the shit he preaches to people. He selling one set of ideas to people while living by the complete opposite. He’s not being honest to his audience, that’s the textbook definition of deception. He’s also doing it for financial gain, which makes him a textbook grifter.
He isn’t invested in real estate or any other industry aside from the one he obviously gets most of his funding from: political commentary.
You literally prove yourself wrong in this very same comment. He owns a for profit clothing brand. I even brought this up in my previous comment. Did you even read it?
He doesn’t rug pull his followers by introducing cryptocurrency or NFTs, which many if not most grifters have done, including Trump
This isn’t even a valid argument. You’re just arguing that he isn’t a grifter because he doesn’t fit your myopic preconceived stereotypes of what you personally think a grifter is. It has nothing do with the objectivity of his actions fitting the confines of the actual definition. Just because he doesn’t “feel” like a grifter to you that doesn’t mean that he isn’t one. Are you honestly so out of ideas that this is the best you can come up with?
Hasan doesn’t acquire capital in any way a “normal” capitalist would.
Of course he doesn’t, he’s a grifter. Most capitalists aren’t grifters. With that being said, again, he does own a for profit company.
His getting funding from his fans actually allows him to stay independent as a political commentator and be free from corporate main stream media and the US State Department pushing American-first propaganda.
Maybe you should go back and read what the term “grifter” even means, because you’re clearly demonstrating that you have no idea what you’re talking about. A grifter is not a shill or a capitalist or a right winger. It’s not a pejorative to describe anyone you don’t like. The word has an actual meaning.
He just has so many fans that people mistake that for his being a millionaire.
Like I said in my previous comment, I don’t have a problem with him being a millionaire. I specifically said that my issue with him has to do with how he became a millionaire. Again, reading is very important here. If you’re not willing to do the bare minimum then we can’t have a conversation.
then criticize all of West Hollywood and California in general for making housjng that expensive.
Who said that I don’t? You’re grasping at straws here. You’re making up assumptions and attacking them because you’re in denial that your favorite content creator is in fact a grifter. It’s as simple as that.
You choosing not to shows your bias.
Are you slow? This is a completely separate topic, why would I criticize California’s rich NIMBYs and housing crises in a conversation about Hasan Piker being a grifter? Of course I wouldn’t bring it up because it’s irrelevant.
just so happens to be union owned and operated.
Idk if you have issues with reading comprehension skills or not, but I very clearly addressed this very point in my previous comment. The business only using union labor is a GIMMICK. There are tens of thousands of businesses across the country use union labor, it doesn’t mean anything. This is not something that’s new or unique. If you want to praise him for using union labor, then that’s fine, but that still doesn’t justify the absurd prices that he’s charging for his clothing brand.
I’m sorry, but what the Union does and doesn’t do is none of your concern BECAUSE THEY STILL OPERATE IN A CAPITALIST HELLHOLE OF A COUNTRY.
This is THE dumbest argument you’ve come up thus far. The company isn’t run by a union, it’s run by Hasan. The union just negotiates on the behalf of the employees as a bloc, that’s it. How the company is run is literally the entire point of this conversation you dolt. Hasan is intentionally, consciously choosing to sell at ridiculous prices solely for profit.
You’re ignoring the cost of living in California, and instead of wanting to fix that, you’re belief is that people should just move away or stop what they’re trying to do although
Again, stop making up assumption in your head. This bad faith argumentation just shows that you’re incapable of defending Hasan on his own merits. I explained very clearly in my last comment that the crazy high prices that Hasan is charging has nothing to do with cost of living or union wages or anything like that. Why? Because he constantly runs promotions and sales events. If he has that much margin to do this then that proves that he’s not selling at the minimum price necessary to run the operation, he’s intentionally selling at a massive profit.
Hasan bought the LA house at that price because West Hollywood is really that expensive.
Not that expensive. This is something that you can easily verify right now by going to Zillow and looking up the houses in West Hollywood, you’ll see that the vast majority of them are way less than $3 million. That price will fetch you the absolutely biggest and most luxurious mansions in the area. Keep in mind, this is 2026 prices, he bought his mansion back in 2021. Hasan didn’t buy a normal house in an expensive area, he bought a mansion in an expensive area. That’s a big difference
You failing to mention these things shows your bias
What bias? You keep repeating this like a broken record, but I have no biases towards Hasan. I’m just telling you the cold, hard objective truth as it is. He’s a grifter as per the definition of the word, and I provided examples that prove just that.
Hasan has these things, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still a socialist.
It doesn’t by definition. This is like saying participating in environmental destruction are still environmentalists because they have an online persona where they care about the environment even though they’re doing the opposite in their personal lives. It’s a nonsensical stance.
living like a socialist in the US is a quick strategy to poverty
I feel like a broken record at this point. I, again, specifically said that I’m not one of those people who thinks that Hasan needs to live in poverty in order to be considered a socialist. It’s reasonable to want a comfortable life. However, there’s a difference between a comfortable life as an average person and a highly luxurious life as an ultra wealthy capitalist. When you choose the latter, then there is no longer any room for doubt. Hasan is not a socialist, he’s capitalist. You could make the argument that someone like Bernie or AOC are socialists, but not Hasan.
you don’t see capitalist grifters arguing for this, they are keen to use fascist ideas to continually fuel capitalism;
You probably thought that this was a zinger, but the very fact that your “gotcha” statement here is directly comparing Hasan to “capitalist grifters” proves my point that Hasan is in fact a grifter himself.
Karl Marx said that socialism is “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need”
My whole point is that Hasan does NOT live by this principle whatsoever.
socialism doesn’t prohibit the possibility of millionaires and rich people if those people earned their fortunes in socialist ways
What in hell are you even talking about? I don’t think you understand what socialism is. There’s no such thing as millionaires and rich people in a socialist system because a socialist system is a planned economy. That means all the wealth and resources are directly owned, managed, redistributed by the state. How can you even argue for something that you don’t understand?
what socialism does prohibit is the outsourcing of the means of production where ownership and operation of the economy are divorced
That is not what socialism is.
just look to China where this version of “market socialism” is allowed to exist and evolve.
Lmao what? China’s economic rise literally happened because they adopted a version of capitalism. After Mao nearly collapsed the country, his successor, Deng Xiaoping, decided to liberalize the economy by allowing private ownership, “special economic zones” where capitalism runs free, foreign investment, and so on. Since the reforms in the 80s, China economy finally started booming. They’ve kept the same model ever since. The CCP calls it “market socialism with Chinese characteristics” but in reality its just state capitalism.
So since you provided evidence that doesn’t really make your argument. I’ll bring some of my own:
Every sentence that I read from you, the more I am inclined to believe that you’re a 14 year old kid who’s just starting to get into politics. I have a hard time imagining an adult arguing in such a childish way. My evidence directly supports my argument, so much so, that I’ve basically proven my point. You haven’t even addressed what I said. I have yet to actually come across a single valid point from you that made think about the merits of what you said.
Regardless, looking at your list, none of them contradict what I said… like at all. In fact some of them, like his clothing brand support my point, not yours. I even made a point in this very thread about how he even donates like a rich capitalist where he’s only doing it for PR. His lifestyle and his persona are contradictory, which makes him a grifter.
I’m not going to change your mind. But I will change someone else’s on Lemmy
This is the weakest cop out ever. I’m very clearly objectively correct here. You can’t argue against it, but you’re also not honest enough to admit it. Therefore, instead of addressing what I actually said, you just grasped at a bunch of straws, got mad at me for calling out the crappy content creator you idolize, and then tried to exist with a source dump that doesn’t even support your point. It’s just so dishonest.
Bro, you’re doing the classic “socialist = poor” fallacy. That’s not even true. Owning the means of production isn’t mutually exclusive with being rich. If the means of production people own create products people want in high demand, then the principles of economics still apply. People still make tons of money. This is what’s called market socialism, and it’s doing quite well in China.
Your fundamental principle is completely backwards. Until we work on that, every other fallacy of yours will follow.
It was people and comments like yours that made me discover, watch and like Hasan.
You are an imbecile for thinking that he is grifting. He is not. He is consistent with his core ideas. You must be one of those morons who think he should be broke because he calls himself a socialist/communist, no? Is that what it is? Because if so, you are so goddamn stupid if you still hold that argument in your hands. You will never defeat billionaires by being poor, dude. We need some people of our own with the same amount of power, do you understand that? I mean, Hasan likely has less than 100 million USD as a net worth, comparing him to Penguinz0’s 46M he has made with all his YouTube videos alone, both very active content creators, but Penguinz0 has way more people watching him everyday, because he attracts normies, Hasan attracts those obsessed with politics, which are more rare and few, especially leftists. Even yet, if he donated it all like you want him to, then how the fuck is he going to spread his core ideas further?
People who want him to self-host, to abandon Twitch because it belongs to Amazon, are also some of the dumbest people I have come across in my god damn life. I can go on and on about why that’d be incredibly unfeasible, incredibly outside Hasan’s or any other content creator’s hands. The amount of money you need to build the infrastructure is immense. If he cannot use AWS, he’d need to use CDN (which hold and behold, also have evil rich people owning the services), which is incredibly expensive to hold the bandwidth of 40,000 regular viewers everyday for 8 hours everyday. Then the marketing or means to gain traffic, it’s an incredibly absurd suggestion, I seriously hope you are not another one of those.
I have never given him a cent, yet I have enjoyed countless hours of his content, learning about how evil the Trump administration is, how evil Israel is, and which products, from popular brands owned by evil people I should avoid and convince my family of 100+ people to do the same.
You complain that he donates money for “PR”, which is also fucking stupid. The amount Hasan has donated, if measured by proportion of his total wealth, is higher than all the other millionaires and billionaires. At this point, if we are constantly surrounded by children like you, nobody is ever going to donate anymore, because people will ALWAYS call it fake. Congratulations, bub. You made donating a much less common practice. It was people like you that convinced rich people to hate us even more than they already do, and pushed them to do us more harm. We could’ve at least made it a little easier if it wasn’t for morons like you. Fuck donating, right? It will never be sincere, it will always be a waste of time and resources you could instead use to further damage the rich.
You criticized someone by saying “you’re literally incapable of producing a coherent, logical response” yet your response to this: “When has Hasan manipulated people?” was “All the time. How can you not see it?” You literally talk and sound like a MAGA, dude. You both use the same style of arguing: substance-less, empty, hollow, repeated NPC one-liners, insults, “do your own research” type of answer. It’s so fucking gross.
I am glad people like you leave these comments, though. They are great opportunities to display how fucking stupid Hasan’s haters are to the silent readers like me. No one does a better job at convincing people to listen to him than stupid morons like you. So, seriously, thank you so much for that. Every idiot you see repeating the “he shocks his dog” bullshit, is not that different from seeing Ethan Klein’s community constantly calling others a “pedophile, pedophile, pedophile” to ruin their lives and careers. You are disgusting and stupid as fuck if you really think talking like that is convincing anybody to like you or your favorite content creator / news anchor / politician / celebrity / ideology. You are only scaring people away, especially when you don’t offer anything convincing or logical, Mr. “All the time. How can you not see it?”
By the way, no one has asked you this, but why don’t you recommend us who to listen to? After all, you claimed this: “I like you unironically think that these 3 shithead grifters are the only role models out there for young men.”
What other content creators are you encouraging us to watch instead? Come on, tell us. It’s going to be so funny to see your own hypocrisy at full display.
It’s amazing how you wrote so much and yet said so little. I read your novel twice looking for a thesis to respond to, but there isn’t one… so I ended up reading a third time, and there’s still nothing. This whole essay of yours is literally nothing more than a collection of ad hom fallacies. I know this fallacy has become a buzzword, but the actual definition of it applies here. It’s literally just name calling me names like a hundred times. I tried to look past the insults to what your point is, but you don’t actually have a point, the insults are the point.
The thing that I don’t understand is that why you even wrote whatever this is in the first place? Not only is it giving me second hand embarrassment, but it also would’ve so much simpler, more mature, and more effective for you to just ask questions in good faith and then have me answer. I would’ve answered you and we could’ve had a discussion. Instead, you choose this and showed that you’re engaging in bad faith for no good reason.
You are just retarded. After all, you consider this a good argument:
“When has Hasan manipulated people?”
You: “All the time. How can you not see it?”
You also think communists or socialists should never enjoy some luxuries like getting a big home or a nice car. You do that because you want people like Hasan to not have capital, and make it easier for pedophiles like Jeffrey Epstein and all his capitalist friends to crush him. You felt so called out that, instead of addressing that, you are relying on this nonsense comment, acting like you are the calm one, the normal one, calling me insane for writing a lot or whatever, instead of addressing this shit I made it clear.
The idea of self-hosting a livestreaming platform is also fucking stupid, but you cannot address it anymore, because I can actually prove you wrong with that.
At least answer the question I made you, I am sure a lot of people are interested in that answer alone: Who do you recommend we should listen to instead?
Don’t you have to sell some junk supplements or something to be a grifter? Just cause you don’t like the guy doesn’t make him a grifter.
No, a grifter is a con artist who uses charm, deception, and manipulation to swindle people out of money or possession. Hasan fits this definition down to the letter.
When has Hasan conned people?
When has Hasan deceived people?
When has Hasan manipulated people?
You say Hasan swindles people of their money. How come he donates so much of what he makes then?
You are a shit-lib libtard that has no working brain. Either that, or you’re a troll or bot paid by foreign actors. Either way, your propaganda isn’t working as can be clearly seen in this comment section.

Sure thing.

I’m not going to change your mind. But I will change someone else’s on Lemmy. That’s good enough for me.
I’m done having this conversation.
You literally prove yourself wrong in this very same comment. He owns a for profit clothing brand. I even brought this up in my previous comment. Did you even read it?
This isn’t even a valid argument. You’re just arguing that he isn’t a grifter because he doesn’t fit your myopic preconceived stereotypes of what you personally think a grifter is. It has nothing do with the objectivity of his actions fitting the confines of the actual definition. Just because he doesn’t “feel” like a grifter to you that doesn’t mean that he isn’t one. Are you honestly so out of ideas that this is the best you can come up with?
Of course he doesn’t, he’s a grifter. Most capitalists aren’t grifters. With that being said, again, he does own a for profit company.
Maybe you should go back and read what the term “grifter” even means, because you’re clearly demonstrating that you have no idea what you’re talking about. A grifter is not a shill or a capitalist or a right winger. It’s not a pejorative to describe anyone you don’t like. The word has an actual meaning.
Like I said in my previous comment, I don’t have a problem with him being a millionaire. I specifically said that my issue with him has to do with how he became a millionaire. Again, reading is very important here. If you’re not willing to do the bare minimum then we can’t have a conversation.
Who said that I don’t? You’re grasping at straws here. You’re making up assumptions and attacking them because you’re in denial that your favorite content creator is in fact a grifter. It’s as simple as that.
Are you slow? This is a completely separate topic, why would I criticize California’s rich NIMBYs and housing crises in a conversation about Hasan Piker being a grifter? Of course I wouldn’t bring it up because it’s irrelevant.
What bias? You keep repeating this like a broken record, but I have no biases towards Hasan. I’m just telling you the cold, hard objective truth as it is. He’s a grifter as per the definition of the word, and I provided examples that prove just that.
It doesn’t by definition. This is like saying participating in environmental destruction are still environmentalists because they have an online persona where they care about the environment even though they’re doing the opposite in their personal lives. It’s a nonsensical stance.
You probably thought that this was a zinger, but the very fact that your “gotcha” statement here is directly comparing Hasan to “capitalist grifters” proves my point that Hasan is in fact a grifter himself.
My whole point is that Hasan does NOT live by this principle whatsoever.
That is not what socialism is.
“When has Hasan manipulated people?” You: “All the time.
