I think this is really just a description of assholes (of which anti-semites are a subset). I feel this could apply to the people of tons of other political groups.
We see it over and over that right wing groups choose names that do not match their actual philosophy.
And I think the deep, underlying reason is that they are, on some level, aware that their actual philosophy is evil, or at least would be far less popular if they used an accurate name. But if you ask them why, they’ll simply lie. After all, they’re already lying when choosing their name. More lies are the most straightforward response to a challenge.
OP already mentioned the National Socialists and the DPRK. Another famous one is Pro-life, who are somehow only pro-life when it comes to a fetus. They don’t pursue any “pro-life” policies for after a baby is born. They don’t pursue “pro-life” policies to protect the lives of pregnant women, instead forcing them to go through a dangerous birth. The problem is that “anti-abortion” doesn’t sound as good, so they instead use a name that’s more lie than truth. Hell, most of the pro-life people I know also support the death penalty. Peak absurdity.
