The “well” is 27 meters deep with 135 steps. It has 9 levels and a maze of tunnels leading off from the bottom.
And how did it work? Any new mason should build a new section? Or they just threw bad masons down in the well?

Well you’d have to become an apprentice mason to find out.
That was for that other cult, the stonemasons.
Afaik, they led an initiate down and left to find an exit at night without light or something like that. Maybe they went down the stairs on their own, too
This landmark was featured in The Golden Enclaves, the third book in Naomi Novak’s wonderful Scholomance trilogy.
The whole property is very unique.
a deadly education wasn’t that enjoyable to me. i don’t know why, the end of the book definitely sets up new mysteries and unknowns, but all in all i found the book fairly ehhh. i don’t think I’ll be continuing the series.
Oh, I loved it. I’ve read all three twice. But no book is for everyone! That’s why there are so many different books. :)
indeed. maybe it’s because I’m a guy and need to be pandered to, when scholomance appears to me a bit balanced but maybe a bit more aimed at woman. i guess I’m a chud.
Mason initiation? Is this a cult reference?

That’s numberwang!
It’s where Masons were initiated. I couldn’t find out much more. I have a friend here who’s a Mason and asked him about it. He said he didn’t know anything about it. (or wouldn’t tell me)
As in like, stonemasons?
Nah just dudes named “Mason”. On their 18th birthday some shadowy people come to abduct them to take them here. Usually the Masons survive, but not always.
They originally started as stone masons but evolved into a secret club kind of group.
Like Freemason?
Yeah, they’re basically the same as Masons.
Date of construction: between 1904 to 1911
And then the story about Templar Knights using it?
Wikipedia has some more info. I read it as, a couple of Freemasons where cosplaying as Knights Templar and built this for their rituals.
I should build one of these on my land, how expensive could it be?
I was under the impression it called itself an ‘underground tower’.
I heard it refered to as an inverted tower.
The protagonist in Annihilation called it a tower too, even though everyone else thought of it as a tunnel
I was gonna mention this as well! This is how I imagined the “tower” looks like.
such a beautiful area, now a wonderful memory. highly suggest to anyone able or considering :)
Wander can’t ride Agro down there, so you’re gonna have to go in on foot.
Did you see the news about Levithian waking off the coast of Virginia? Let’s go climb him bro.
I dunno… Are we gonna stab him in his glowing magical weak point?
I saw the green outline and thought this was some sort of Batman/Bane kind of deal where you get chucked in there and have to make some incredibly difficult climbs to get out.
Then I saw the people inside the walls
