Your dad is a millennial (and it appears he had you when he was just 18 as well), so he’s more in touch with technology and social media. As an older millennial as well, I feel like my generation definitely acts younger than gen x and boomers when they were my age. Your friends’ parents are probably in those generations, and your dad is just young in relation to your age.

5·4 hours agoAnd the irony there is at some point in their career, they were in OPs position asking for help as well. So it’s either a cycle (people were also rude to them back then) or they’re the pull-the-ladder-up-after-yourself type of person.

Ah I remember this. At the time, I was part of the team at my work that was tasked to monitor the user accounts of the hundreds of people who were gonna be laid off in one day, to make sure they don’t do anything before the accounts are disabled. That was a somber day.
