A carpenter and father of a toddler has called on the government to give self-employed men paid paternity leave.
That’s how health insurance works in the US. If you’re not working for a decent sized company, or in some sort of union pool, you’re fucked. Pretty sure it’s by design.
There’s paid maternity leave for the self employed in the UK, this is just sexism.
Sure, I get that it’s a different situation. Just commenting on being punished for being self employed.
The government said its “parental leave and pay review is under way and will conclude in early 2027”.
Apparently the unfairness isn’t immediately clear from the facts alone. It will take some committee a full year to recognize something screamingly obvious… and that’s the optimistic take. They might decide things are fine the way they are.
