Explanation: The Nazis in WW2 opened the conflict with a series of horrific crimes, including the unprovoked bombing of civilian cities, the intentional destruction of ‘untermensch’ cultural heritage, the prosecution of brutal ‘reprisals’ on civilian hostages, and would be revealed to have committed an even greater intensity of mass-murder as the war wore on and details of the Holocaust was uncovered.
Despite this, Nazi apologists often try to play the sympathy card regarding Dresden, a historic German city which was firebombed by a British-US combined effort to relieve pressure on the Soviet Front. While the bombing tactics are widely considered excessive today, with the British in particular embracing a strategy of counter-‘terror bombing’ as revenge for the many cities the Nazis flattened, the Nazis’ only real objection was that they opened a Pandora’s Box at the start of the war that they could not handle at the end.
The Nazis wanted total war? They got it.
Nazis to this day try to exploit Dresden as a talking point. Pretty fucked up that they are still allowed to do so. At one point their “Remembrance” was actually the occasion for biggest Nazi meetups in europe during the early 2000s.
So it goes
