This is America, public assistance is sparse to be generous, and to qualify for it you have to be actively looking for a job, including those Amazon Warehouse positions. Despite what the American right would have you believe, you can’t just choose not to work and then live fat dumb and happy on the taxpayers dime.

And no, the average person previously working at an Amazon warehouse doesn’t have a huge support system. If they did, they probably wouldn’t have been working at an Amazon warehouse while that pregnant to begin with. And to burden what support network you do have with voluntary unemployment is… kinda nuts.

Because in this case Pandora’s box is something which exists solely through a sustained, inconceivable amount of money being continuously funneled into it without any guaranteed long term benefit to the people who do so. It’s a technology which isn’t sold as a product as it exists in its current form, but a theoretical future form.

If the bottom were to fall out from under it tomorrow, it couldn’t even continue to exist as it is now, it would disappear entirely as there would be no financial incentive to keep it running. Individuals could still run what we have now offline, but its value and usefulness would degrade rapidly as time went on, because it relies on mass-scale power consumption and data theft to remain up to date, much less improve.

I spent a few years abroad as a American teen. I spent time with host families all over the UK and Ireland, a brief time in Prague. Inconsistent, like two separate people were in charge of what the game looked like and they didn’t agree with eachother at all. You can tell there was an attempt at retaining the games distinct style in some of the character design and and animations, but they went WAAAAAY overboard with Link’s design which is for some reason extremely overly-detailed compared to the NPCs. There also the issue of the game world itself seeming almost obsessed with geometry. Kokiri foreat may have looked flat in the original but it’s like a huge overcorrection in the remake. Especially compared to the Hyrule castle town which looks like it was remade with much more sense.

Couple reasons.

• Jellyfin is not security software, and given the inconsistency and general lack of polish of every other aspect of Jellyfin, its raw login page is not something I’d comfortably expose to the internet to begin with.
• Quick connect is a poor, unintuitive imitation of Device Flow. A non-technical user would have to also have a Jellyfin app or bookmark in their phone already, and know where to navigate in it to reach the quick connect function. This on its own is insurmountable.
• It’s not SSO. Jellyfin is yet another username and password they must remember when every single other thing I self host supports OIDC out of the box and they get one user account for everything.

Smart TVs should be able to support OIDC easily out of the box.

And if it didn’t, you can just use a Device Flow
