I do and I know the whole PC world is there but I decided “I need to finish gt7” as an exercise in skill development.
Non.
I have that lovely ADHD trait of getting excited about a new hobby, spending too much money on gear and then getting bored. So when I decided to give sim racing a go I started with a cheap second hand wheel, pedals and seat from marketplace, my old ps4, GT7 and the TV i already have in the spare room. I promised my wife “No significant spending on this until my birthday or fathers day”.
Yeah I’m a sim racer, and I suck.
Today I’m playing GT7, tomorrow I’m probably play some GT7 and if I’m getting really frisky next week I might play some GT7.
Gotta git gud.

Europe@feddit.org•French newspaper : Many Germans have a deep relationship with combustion cars. For them, buying a quiet electric car is emotionally hard to accept. English
1·3 days agoOh agreed, just pointing out that when you throw around the idea of outright bans of course the people who are passionate will hate it, dig their heels in and call bullshit.
Governments need to leave the door open for the small number of petrolheads who are prepared to pay a premium to continue doing what they LOVE and use that premium to make EVs more practical and affordable for the vast majority of people who “Just need something to get me from A to B” to the point where even the diehards will say “It just doesnt make sense to drive this thing every day, Ill get an EV for a daily driver”

I think the world needs a version of the Japanese Kei car rules. You build a pure EV with a range of at least X, a maximum power of Y with a small footprint and we will make them intensely cheap to tax and insure. The market will sort itself out.

1·3 days agoExcept speaking as a petrolhead… the germans are historically really fucking good at it.
I dont think that in the history of the automobile if you were to ask “What was the best car of the year” that it wouldnt be a german dominated list every year. Yes the Japanese would occasionally sit them on their ass and the Americans and Italians might get one or two. But building world class cars has been a big part of the german identity globally for the past hundred years.

6·3 days agoNo offence intended but Duh. People who are passionate about something dont want it banned. I’m one of those people and yes we will push back because we all know most of the worlds polution is caused by big buisness and industry. When people talk about banning ALL combustion engines it reads to me like “recycling will save the environment”
Most of the worlds driving population doesnt give a fuck about driving enjoyment or feel any real passion for driving or cars. The enthusiasts and enthusiast cars arent the lions share of the problem. If the electric grocery getters were significantly cheaper the vast majority of people will adopt them. Id gladly only take my petrol engine out for special occasions if I could also afford an EV to get stuck in traffic in.

1·2 years agoTheres a newish neighbourhood near me with a high percentage of reasonably cashed up retired people… nice houses with 2 car garages on small blocks. Every other house has a caravan or a boat and they almost all park them on the street.
Some of the streets have been effectively reduced to one lane in both directions, sure its legal but its a giant pain in the balls to get around.

I got a seat, Thrustmaster t300rs wheel and pedals for $400 aud, then someone was selling the same wheel but with the upgraded pedals and the addon shifter for $300 so I bought it because the load cell brake is so much better. Ive put the other wheel and pedals away because my daughter is 6 and keeps wanting a turn so when I jump to ps5 Ill build her a little rig with the ps4
I settled on GT7 for 2 reasons. I already had a PS4 and bought GT7 years ago but playing it on controler just wasnt fun so there was no financial outlay outside of the setup and it was also the game that some people I watch on YT did some videos with. I do agree that the non online racing isnt exactly inspired.
Im also working on a rig that I can pack down to small enough to slot into a gap next to the couch when Im not using it but without a huge pile of ball ache to set up.
Still very much in prototype stage but loosten off the wheel, loosten off the stand and concertina the whole thing down to about a 50cm x50cm footprint.
