I find it incredibly rare for those who claim to be progressive, liberal, or soc-dem to be anything close to leftist, despite their insistence. They tend to lack class consciousness and still cling to the idea that the system can be reformed to fit their image of an ideal society. They also support a representative republic over an actual democracy, which is a major contributor to the current political climate in the US. In fact, I have recently come to favor the Athenian democratic system of lottery over election.

The reality is that if there weren’t such large swathes of the Western Left that were willing to embrace chauvinism and social-democratism and betray the international working class, no amount of repression would have succeeded in eliminating the real revolutionaries and so thoroughly suppressing class consciousness.

I wouldn’t consider those people to be of the “left”. They’re liberal reformists at best.

It’s not wise to make sweeping generalizations. That tends to be the mindset of those who want to skip nuance as a shortcut to satisfying one’s outrage. Western leftists aren’t many, but we do exist. I wouldn’t have passed the screening here if I wasn’t. The vast, vast majority of people in the west have been captured by bourgeoisie propaganda since birth for several generations. It’s virtually impossible to not be brainwashed, and it’s even harder to break out of that programming once it has taken hold of your core beliefs before you develop them. That’s the same reason religion still has such a powerful hold over billions after science has demonstrated repeatedly that it makes no logical sense to believe in an omnipotent, omniscient being.

It’s very unlikely to throw a rock in the west and hit a leftist, but that doesn’t justify the claim they don’t exist.

It’s really cringy when someone uses the word “theory” in place of “hypothesis”. The word “theory” has been so skewed and warped by anti-intellectuals.

China being any kind of realistic opposition to imperial power is all the reason they need. What the bourgeoisie can’t control, they destroy.

The more power you have, the more it can corrupt you. People who enjoy abusing power will gravitate to positions that let them abuse the powers given to them. Give police abroad the kind of power USA police have, and it will be the same.

If really put to the test, I doubt police outside of the USA would be any different.

That’s why they allowed Pearl Harbor to happen, despite knowing well in advance it was coming. It was an excuse to bring the USA into the war and conquer new territory. Every tragedy that happens on US soil is allowed as a means to manufacture consent, and we get to die in order to generate it.
