I’m still on the fence as to whether their current CEO is just a complete business illiterate, or some kind of corporate Manchurian candidate… It’s sure LOOKS like malicious mismanagement to me, a nobody pleb.

Indistinguishable from Russian propaganda to agitate for class division and disrupt solidarity. Fuck outta here with this self-righteous, tone-deaf slopaganda.

I appreciate that, and I think you’re right to be skeptical, and I value your critical lens because a LOT of outlets get by on people’s assumption of good faith and veracity. I think that’s what makes it very important to check multiple sources and always consider the potential biases. Some decent credible outlets do end up linked here on lemmy too, so it’s not completely useless for information gathering; the reality is we live in a downright hostile, post-truth media landscape unfortunately.

You have to be more careful when presuming. The singular form is medium, media IS the pluralistic form. I say the US media as a blanket term that includes both legacy corporate news, credible journalism groups like AP and Reuters, and independent US based outlets. I am aware of my ‘leftist’ bias in so far as partisan labels have any use, but I believe politics is more nuanced than that, and put critical thinking and historical education above partisanship when I can. I don’t know what thoughts we share, but I’m sure there was some sort of miscommunication.

They sure are, and I don’t owe you a thesis statement on how I concluded this, opinions don’t need proving to being with and I know that I’ve been exposed to, and critical of all political perspectives in US media for years. I did not ask for your “humble opinion” which is far from humble when presented as more valid than mine since it’s assumed your rejection of my opinion doesn’t require evidence of any sort, and I have no interest in entertaining your ignorance. If you would care to objectively assess the state of legacy media in the US under constant threat from tRump and his crony led FCC, I invite you to do so, and then perhaps we could have a serious discussion. Until then, and because you only seem able to criticize the terminology I use while ignoring the point, I’m going to ignore you because I think your only goal in responding to me is distraction and suppression.

What about my comment makes you think I would?

I don’t think that guy is as smart as he thinks he is. Maybe it’s all the evidence that Microsoft is literally committing suicide on his watch… maybe it’s a hunch… but the suspicion it’s strong.

Correct. Unfortunately the groups that typically would invest real assets in assassination are the ones with all the money, and one thing he’s not doing is threatening their power and profits in a meaningful way. He desperately wants to be one of the gangster oligarchs, and would never cross them cause he is cucked to their opulence (see: Putin). People talk about blackmail material controlling his actions, and I’m sure there is that too, but I’m just as sure they don’t need it. No, real preemptive assassination attempts tend to target socialists and equalists and those who stand a real chance at elevating the disenfranchised and bridging the gap in the class war. Can’t have that. Mind you, assassination after the damage has already been inflicted is not unheard of, like Mussolini, but that’s more of a vengeful act and pyrrhic victory cause it’s too damn late. Anyway, happy Tuesday!

Your first mistake is thinking someone has to do something for him to act the way he does. Even the rationalization for the illegal actions against Venezuela was contrived as a fig leaf to cover him just doing what he wants to for his own profit. The reason is there’s profit to extort for him and his oligarchy buddies, but they’ll come up with 20 justifications after the fact just to make you feel consoled.

This media can’t differentiate between trolling and threats. Just like tRump ‘floating’ wildly illegal actions to test popularity and desensitize the public before just doing them regardless. I haven’t decided whether this is intentional misrepresentation and journalistic malpractice, or ignorance and incompetence (a different kind of malpractice), but I do know the outcome is the same either way.
MS is about to learn how hard it is to build trust in commercial markets, and why it’s a terrible decision to set that on fire for a short term profit. Honestly, it’s hard to find a better example of a company that had a more comfortable and ideal position in their market, that just decided to disrupt itself without any pressure or prompting. You wanna gamble, you gotta be ready to lose.
