A nation can enrich it’s elites in the short term at the expense of its people, or it can invest in its people (education, commons, etc) at the expense of its elites.

The west, and especially my cesspool the US has made its choice.

China has been heavily building up its commons and infrastructure in the same 40 year span the US has let its commons and education fall into utter ruin in order to sell economically segregated education and gated communities for private profit.

The US is culturally indoctrinated to be hostile towards the very concept of society. Imagine resenting paying into universal healthcare because you don’t want to accidentally pay for your countrymen’s “bad decisions” like… Eating food.

I go on Rednote quite a bit. The US attitude towards China, just like non pure crony capitalism is “they are evil and from hell” for being a society. Their people, not their politicians, their people, are sweet, intelligent, and mostly treat Americans with an “are you guys OK? We’ve heard (true) horror stories.”

Thats humanity. Why would I want my schaudenfreude and greed ruled cesspool to “win?” It’s not about winning, it’s about the wellbeing of ALL your people. If the US dominates the world culturally, all that would mean is that humanity stands for “fuck you I got mine” at which point I have no comradery with my species whatsoever.

Actual human worth/value is measured in empathy for one another, which makes the US destitude in what matters.

Good luck with that.

I’m happy for Finland. They won civilization again this year. The world happiness index. The scientific measure of the happiness of the citizens of a society.

Which should be the entire point.

Of civilization and society I mean. Of everything we toil for. Maximize human happiness for the most humans possible. Full stop.

We choose to make ourselves miserable subsisting under avarice diseased sociopaths who themselves can never be satiated or therefore happy. And we call what we toil for… freedom? What a con-job.

Why take pride in not only losing civilization, but playing the wrong fucking sport altogether? It’s embarrassing to be associated with. I’m with stupid as in my nation state.

No you fucking didn’t.

Maybe we should double down on capitalism again.

It’s the only move the US has used in living memory.

When the Nordic countries launch good social media platforms, I’ll defect to them. In the meantime, if you’re on social media that isn’t instanced like this, you’re on social media spawned under the umbrella of a corrupt empire with blood on its hands.

No reason not to play one off the other. No reason to have any allegiance to any of them. If anything, I think the peasants of two countries that are supposed to be “adversaries” talking to each other and realizing we’re fundamentally more the same than different as is happening on Rednote can only be a positive thing.

Truly Up vs. Down. Laborers vs elite. That transcends borders.

A literal popular Chinese social media app similar to TikTok that has become the top App store app that TikTok users are defecting to because of the ban, bragging about handing their data to China because they no longer respect the US government, and also bragging they’d literally trust the CCP before they’d trust Zuck, Musk, or Trump.

Reveling in pettiness, yes. But reveling nonetheless. It’s actually a lot of fun and refreshing to see Americans and Chinese intermingling and sharing culture, so I’m sure it’ll be banned too. But it’s going to be fun watching our captured government play whackamole to do what they really banned TikTok for: to control the narrative and domestic spying through Meta and X.
