Hey happy birthday. One that comes to mind is a few years ago at a friend’s place, really neat place at the top of a centuries-old stone building in southern France. We smoke a fat spliff and somehow we get to talking about my friend’s job, which is botanist. He mentions he owns a binocular lens (like a microscope, but less magnifying, meant for observing plant matter), and we decide to take a look at the weed ! so we gather around his little desk which is on a suspended platform above/overseeing the living room, and we look at the weed : it’s fantastic. All shiny, glistening…, trichomes become giant claws of ice covering the leaves… it’s like peeking into a small, strange world.
I have an idea : what if I tried to film this ? I try adjusting my phone’s camera through the eyepiece and sure enough it works -but there’s some weird parallax going on when I shift the camera slightly to one side or the other… it moves the round frame around the piece of weed we’re focusing on and it looks uncannily like a helicopter light moving over a wood at night, looking for an escapee or something. So in my best megaphone voice I go “get out of this weed, we have you surrounded!” and we laugh like dorksGood memory…
happy birthday! with my old smokebuddies once we decided we were gonna get riggity riggity rekt that night so we each took a whole 600 mg pack of edibles (i do think it was d8), made infused hot chocolate, and smoked a double wide kiefed and waxed joint that weighed 3.5g total. i smoked most of the joint but overall id say each of us probably consumed at least a gram of THC each in various forms. that was one hell of a sesh

Happy birthday!!! My favourite weed memory is the first time I got properly high alone. I put on Broken Social Scenes ambient “Feel Good Lost” album and the sound engulfed my apartment. I sat down on the crappy carpet floor and just felt the music go through me.
What a wonderful feeling :)
My second favourite weed memory is taking an edible and skating on the Rideau canal at 2am when the massive Zamboni drove on to resurface the ice. We walked through the rich neighborhoods of downtown Ottawa and then skated back.

The day I showed an old stoner a new way of smoking weed, called a bubble bucket or bubble gravity bong, you make your gravity bong as per usual, then you get some hose melt a hole in the bottle life and slide it through with the cone piece sitting in the top of the hose, you want to make the hose be just over 3/4 of the way down the bottle. Now when you pack it and start pulling it, it will pull the water up a bit then start pulling the smoke down though the water, cooling it and letting you have the smoothest gravity bong you’ve ever had.
She had never seen it and would only smoke that at my house, made me feel so great showing her something new for a change.

you have to put the pipe in and screw the cap on before you pack it or else you get a cool looking but really sad explosion of weed in the air.

Following your last grow and listening to how happy and excited you were after harvest time was great. Have you thought about what you’re doing this year when it warms up again?
I’m going to grow more plants hopefully. I got these motion activated sprinklers that are supposed to spray the raccoons, so hopefully I’ll harvest all of them even 😂
My 2025 weed was amazing there just wasn’t enough of it. 19 Oz on one 10’ plant. This year I want 5, which should net me approximately 5 pounds conservatively. I think I’m going to move my patch to a sunnier spot too, for some meatier buds. I just go out there and lay under the plants sometimes it’s amazing.
I also want to make some hemp cord so I can make friendship bracelets 😂 I want to use “every part of the buffalo”
Sweet, hopefully it all works out for you without as much drama as last year. I’m planning to run a bunch outdoors this year too.

I don’t think one is better than the other, just different. Indoor/outdoor both come with their own challenges. Outdoor growing is far more of a lottery IMO. There’s only so much you can do when nature doesn’t want to go along with your plans.

As much sun and air (through pruning) as possible, both are signs for the plant to grow those nugs as big as possible because they have the best chance to be pollinated.

I hope you don’t plan to do it by hand. I seriously doubt you’ll have fun whacking rocks with branches in a stream for days just to get some scratchy twine. Less than a century ago it was common for women villagers to do it in my country.

I loved going for walks at night with my partner and ending up at the 24 hour store to get snacks. Summer nights in the city when most people are asleep is the best.
I love the middle of the night! All the 24h stores in my town started closing at 10 during COVID though and haven’t gone back to 24h, which was a real piece of crap when I was working 2nd shift
