I started looking into this and the headlines are insane when you finally figure out what they’re saying. Russia has lost over one million men. Wtf?

Here is the headline and article explaining how much that is. If you’re skimming, this is what you’ll get out of it:

Russia ‘losing 6,000 more troops in Ukraine each month than it can recruit’

While Russia is still acquiring new battlefield recruits at speed, with an estimated rate of 1,000 a day, in the last two months even this has not been sufficient to replace those killed or injured.

“We estimate that the gap between the number of people Russia is losing to casualties and the number they’re being able to recruit is around 6,000 a month at the moment,” one western official said.

So that means, at the time (August of this year), they were losing 36,000 men a month. This article confirms that 25,000 were killed. Losing can mean taken out of action. This is why I hate headlines and some of these so called journalists.

I dunno, guess you shouldn’t go over to your neighbors and start invading their lands, taking their women and children, and household appliances, or something… Maybe Russia should leave…

They just have a similar value on life as China has, none, and this isn’t something new, this all goes back to Tsar-ist times, but may be getting a bit worse as Russia gets more desperate to fulfill the current strong man in power’s wishes.

John McCain described Russia as a Mafia owned Gas Station and when you think of Russia from that perspective everything else kind of starts to make sense.

I get what you mean and am in no way an expert on China or their culture.

Russkie’s disdain to human life goes from Herodotus, through the Mongol/Golden Yoke era and straight to modernity.

Renaissance in Europe started about 13xx. Golden Yoke period in Muscovy ended in 1480.

I would say I completely agree, but during the Mongols and Huns time causing headaches for Russia they were mostly city-states, rather than an actual nation state yet. So Tsar-ist is as far back as you can really say and have it mean collective Russia as a whole. Gotta remember Kyiv predates all of Russia by a couple of hundred years, Rus the original city-state was a colony of Kyiv.

As far as China goes, I’m no expert either, but their history is full of hundreds of thousands or millions being killed off somehow, usually driven by man’s own actions, even now men are dying lonely due to their dumb ass birthing policies. Life is meaningless to them, and women’s lives are worth even less.

I remember back in 2022 Zaluzhnyi had an assumption that the way to stop the war is to make UAF cause enough casualties.

Hope died after the first 300,000. Boy was he wrong on that one.

Edit: ah if you go deep enough, Herodotus and Pliny the elder claimed that north of the pontic Scythian lands and Borisphen/Dnipro source lived tribes of androfagoi, who ate humans and decorated themselves with human remains. Russia is only embracing tradition.

Russians are brainwashed and tightly controlled, and they’ve been in this state of being basically since Tsar-ist times, you don’t just shake off generations of manipulation and conditioning, they’re going to be a problem until they choose to solve it or somebody chooses to solve them.

One story stands out to me about the Soichi Olympics, where the visiting athletes were basically warned about all of the spy devices by very scared staff, in mother Russia Big Brother is always watching (just like America these days).

Sure let’s be pendantic about my obvious point

Taking people against their will should imply everything you felt you had to add, without having to say it.

Also why is everyone on this app so fn high strung, like 75% of replies seem to be people trying to pick fights, some of y’all just seem addicted to ragebait, and FOR REAL take that shit to Facebook or Xitter.

I was making a joke, sorry. Also, maybe clueing in anyone who (somehow) isn’t familiar w/ the bullshit. I meant no offense. 🙇🏼‍♂️

In a similar vein, that response could benefit from a breath, though I’m genuinely sorry that’s been your experience here. 🥲 😅

FWIW, I’ve had mostly good interactions with our fellow lemmings, even after the reddit exodus. So, I know decent people exist here. Hope you stick around and find 'em. 🫡

The good old /s would have helped, but yeah I know I’m already high strung, I’m just used to people around me pulling me back to normalcy, but man some of these people seem to want to fight over dumb shit, no different at all from Reddit or worse, but I’m not here too often, although more often now with all of the enshittification, but it’s like “damn I definitely do not want to check my inbox” lol.

Also I’ve been banned from Reddit for years and have been generally glad to not be able to participate in the comments, so maybe I’m just not used to handling modern Internet discourse anymore.

Just for a scale, during WW2 Soviet Union were loosing about 6…7.5 thousand men a day. There’s a long way to go to reach the full glory.

I did say “soon”, though. How does any living thing get through the winter months without looking forward to the rest of the year, eh?

Be patient. They’ll bloom in their own time, just watch. 🌻🇺🇦🤘🏼✊🏼

Let me never be reincarnated into a country where the leaders can so openly throw citizens’ lives away. Seems like Russia has always been like that.
