A Saudi-aligned PLC column has been targeted by four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) as it passed through the Al-Ma’shar area of Arma District, northeast of Shabwah Governorate.
The multiple IED blasts going off in a predetermined sequence is called a “daisychain”.
Ansarullah combatants are the masters of using the tactic. In 2015 they used daisychain IEDs to practically cripple Saudi armour’s advance.
In any case, both casualties and vehicle destruction has been reported from the site of the attack.

#SouthernSyria: Kurdish Man Kidnapped in #Suwayda Countryside, Kidnappers Demand Large Ransom
Citizen Abdulaziz Amin al-Othman, 51, was kidnapped on the afternoon of Friday, October 16, 2026, in the northern Suwayda countryside, on the road linking the towns of Atil and Selim village, according to circulating reports.
According to sources, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of $100,000 in exchange for his release. The family of Mr. Amin al-Othman filed an official report with the Internal Security Directorate affiliated with Suwayda.
It is worth noting that Abdulaziz al-Othman is originally from #Kobani and has resided in Suwayda for around 30 years, working in well drilling. Details of his kidnapping and the location where he is being held remain unknown.

🇮🇷 Iran’s domestically built heavy fighter jet will begin taxi trials this year and take to the skies next year, says Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi, confirmed today by parliament as Iran’s new defense minister.

– Ansarallah have advanced further in western Taizz city, capturing Al-Jabalayn, Al-Jabali, and the PLC’s 35th Armored Brigade camp.
– Ansarallah have also circumvented the strategically important Jabal Han (Han Mountain) by capturing Al-Murab’ah area and the Al-Ariel hill located to its northeast, encircling the few dozen PLC fighters that still remain at their positions on Jabal Han. As of now, the mountain is no longer assessed to be under effective PLC control.

🇸🇦⚡️ — The Saudi-led coalition says an AH-6i reconnaissance helicopter belonging to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of National Guard crashed in the Najran region due to a technical malfunction, killing both crew members.
The helicopter went down inside Saudi territory and that the two crew members were officers.

Goldsmith Bassam Yabroudi, in the Sufl al-Tilla area of Bab Touma, was the victim of an armed robbery yesterday morning, October 17, 2026, when five armed individuals stormed the shop he owns.
According to details of the incident, the five gunmen entered the workshop and brandished their weapons at the goldsmith, demanding he hand over the gold inside the shop.
Members of the gang confronted neighbors with weapons, threatening them to prevent them from approaching or intervening, before seizing the gold in the workshop. As they fled the scene, the gunmen threw a grenade to cover their escape and create confusion among those present, sparking fear and panic in the area.
It is worth noting that HTS-led General Security militias are present throughout the area, close to where the armed robbery took place, yet they did not intervene at all, allowing the gunmen to leave freely, raising suspicion among local residents that the gunmen may belong to the security forces themselves.
