Don’t forget about the Curds wanting to become Israel 2.0. Too bad for them they’re not Europeans and will always be cannon fodder in the service of the West while awaiting a promise that will never be kept by the colonizers.
I’m giving myself a quota on how many words I expend on dragging the
KurdistanKurdish Israel project. So I’ll wait for a more egregious or direct development before cutting onto it.Though personally, I’m a bit optimistic about the future of the Kurdish movement. I think a large scale realignment of these forces is currently in progress.
Color me curious. Rojava was a failure and just a middle ground between a color revolution and a jihad with anarchist flavor.
My assumption is based off the fact that Kurdish factions in Iraq were split on whether or not to attack Iran, with part of the reason that the US attempt to mobilize the kurds failed. With the US being thrown out of the region, the two regional powers that will fill the vacuum in Kurdish politics will be Türkiye and Iran.
The US has already left Iraq, and part of the reason Iran was able to respond so effectively to the Kurdish separatist operations was because another Kurdush political parry contacted Iran and cooperated with them. The remnants of imperial loyalists are still being being liquidated by Iranian drones. If Iran can incorporate the thoroughly betrayed Kurds into the Axis of Resistance, they would deal a major blow to Turkiish regional power.
The only way the Kurds can be used as a bludgeon for imperialists is if the imperialists are able to occupy the region. Their exit and subsequent humiliation makes the formerly ubiquitous compordor nature of the Kurds into a more complex situation.
I’ve spoken at length before about my opposition to Kurdistan outside the borders of Türkiye, an opposition I still hold, but that doesn’t mean I think the politics of the Kurds are static.
Thank you. Let’s hope for the best.
