You can also take it as him saying he applauds the US for simply putting in the effort, but that the EU needs to stand on its own legs in the future (if we want to solve it on our own terms, without total war, that is).

Mark Rutte who is European is as much of an ass kissing clown as his American boss. You are warping reality to deny what he is saying. He is praising an illegal war of aggression and assasination of heads of states. Pure terrorism.
