Luan was a 17-year-old trans boy. When authorities recovered his body, injuries to his neck and face, blood, burns and preliminary forensic observations pointed to severe violence before his death.
Firefighters had extinguished flames in the field before Luan was discovered face down and partially undressed. Police documented possible drag marks and tire marks nearby and collected a sandal, necklace and phone-charger cable from the area. Those physical traces became part of the homicide investigation, but the available record did not determine whether Luan died at that location or was brought there afterward.
In the days that followed, Civil Police sought surveillance footage and information about vehicles that may have traveled near the area. Jesus could have used any other example. He chose slave-beating because it was the norm at the time (because he himself chose for that to be the case, if you believe he is god and god is all-powerful) and because it’s a direct comparison for the complete submission he demands under threat of violence.
