The phrasing is a bit odd - it kinda seems that Hegseth’s hiding of that news is why they couldn’t resupply, not the destruction itself.
I found an article covering the destruction of NSA Bahrain (the base in question).
It’s been known since April that all the US bases on the Gulf have been destroyed. Even CNN was reporting about it in May
Trump will claim he didn’t know, Hegseth will take the fall.
It’ll then come out years later that there’s plenty of evidence that Trump was well informed of the act or even demanded it himself.
