A former head of the IDF admits he was wrong and says the thing no one is allowed to say without being smeared as an antisemite or self hating Jew. Can we please just take the fucking win?

It likely influences the conversation inside Israel, which is a good thing.

I’ve noticed, especially lately, that Israeli media seems to cover their genocide more objectively that US media does. So it’s likely this will get traction there.

Israeli media is not a monolith, and Fox News is (unfortunately for the rest of us) far from the most batshit reactionary media in the US. Have you seen Newsmax or OAN? That’s where all the MAGAts are these days.

Most of israeli media platform war criminals. Very few are critical like Haretz

Former prime minister Menachem Begin admitting that there was no proof that Nasser was about to attack them did not change israeli public opinion of the war of agression

Yeah, that’s what politicians do. Israel isn’t unique that regard.

I’m not saying I want to give the guy a medal. I’m saying it’s unreasonable to expect someone in his position to go full .ml

Any group put in overwhelming undisputed power over another group will devolve into abusing them. A point Eisenhower made about Israel, that they would end up doing the same things to them as happened to themselves. Good luck finding it on a search engine now though, the results are now enshitified. If you ask it won’t even try to find what you are actually asking for now.

It’s there in the historical record though, it was highlighted in a US History book from the 1970s, back when they still taught history. By the 1980s history was both corrupted by monied interests in league with bad actors, and all but removed from curriculum. Our governments were captured inbetween that interval it appears. Including blue state governments in the north.
