If I were a store owner and someone asked me for a Veterans’ discount, I would charge them double.

lol i did do this in the US one time i worked a summer there. I was working in a restaurant, that didn’t have a menu, so we kinda charged whatever we wanted and i always made sure to charge more to cops.

I didn’t realize how propagandized americans were until i had to attend cops and literally everyone thanked them for their service, people went out of their way to lick their boots.

Really? Where the hell were you? Even in my small city, I never encounter anyone doing that to cops. No one salutes, or says thanks. Not even once has that happened in my life, so Im wondering how you saw it so many times lol BTW, in the southwest. So it’s especially odd.

in a city near mexican border. it happened as often as 2 times per cop, as in 2 different persons went out of their way to thank them for their service, sometimes more sometimes less. not even exaggerating here. it was during a crowded period so maybe that inflated the numbers.

Near the Mexican border, huh??? I’m close to it. Was it California or Arizona? Texas here, which is strange why I haven’t seen anyone explicitly go out of their way to salute or thank a cop. Lots of Mexicans here, but also lots of white folk. So strange.

Some of them even try and argue, telling me they’ve gotten the military discount at other locations. I tell them they can go to that location for their discount but company policy says no discount here, I don’t make the rules I just follow them when it’s funny

Some of the bravest people on the planet are those business owners (i’ve only ever seen cafes do this) in the US who proudly say they don’t serve cops (in uniform obvi). They’re rare but they do exist.

I used to work for the opposite, a guy who loved giving cops shit for free and licking that boot. This was in highschool before I was really politically literate & I still thought it was weird semi-bribery to serve these random assholes for free “so they answer my calls quicker” according to my shitty boss

these kind of identity politics are so uniquely american, like not once in my life have i seen a mexican boast about being a “veteran” let alone a “veteran homeowner” or call themselves “italian-mexicans”, the united states is in like the most advanced stage of identity politics.
