Ann Widdecombe became a dominant pro-Brexit voice later in her career.

Did she ever advocate for violence or the brutal murder of those different to her?

      Yup.

“Widdecombe has publicly expressed her support for so-called ‘gay cure’ therapy, also known as conversion therapy. This is the discredited practice that aims to change or suppress a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.”

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don’t know just how bad “conversation therapy” is.

It often involves electric shocks, forced administration of drugs and a horrific amount of psychological abuse.

It has also been known to involve burning with hot pokers, freezing, whipping, and water boarding.

It is absolutely torture of LGBTQ+ she was advocating for.

Her being murdered doesn’t suddenly change the fact she was an awful person using her position of power to try and inflict harm on others

Why would you do something as stupid as that?

        she was murdered?

You’re allowed to have a shitty opinion in the west and not get murdered for it

I would have loved to have trashed her and her shitty opinions but now she’s been murdered it changes everything

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at because the police have already said there is currently no indication that her murder was politically motivated.

General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
