Tech companies are coming under fire as Australian parents increasingly voice concerns that some online platforms are failing to keep kids under 16 off their platforms.
I’m more on the side of blaming parents on this issue, but also these tech companies are not even taking the surface level steps to comply. At a minimum, Snapchat shouldn’t be advertising the platform as 13+ anymore, the parental controls should work, and if a parent reports that their child is on the platform, they should ban the account. We don’t need age gating at the os level, we need these tech companies to literally stop luring kids onto their platforms for easy profit.
