I unfollowed the guy because all he said (in this padded-with-repetitive-info video) was “shame on MEPs voting for this for folding under the pressure of farmers and far-right” while that was not the reason for the Greens to vote this way at all.
Yes I agree it’s a shame to lose this chance for diversifying, but compromising too much in the name of being practical was a big problem with German Greens under the traffic-light government.
All things considered I can see how difficult it’d be to vote for a deal that burns the Amazons while you spend your days ringing alarm bells about the planet dying.
Well, a lot of the greens themselves are not entirely happy and many distance themselves from this decision. Yeah, i can see your and their reasoning for being worried about climate. However there was actually a lot of changes already made for the environment within the deal and seeing as fighting for keeping our climate stable is “politically out”, i am afraid this is as good as it gets and see it as a big missed opportunity. This was worked on for 26 years already for gods sake.
That and the need for new economic diversification for Europe is very necessary right now with the political situation.
