It was obvious from the beginning that „agentic AI” would fail because of the exact same reasons those things weren’t easy to automate before - no APIs and walled gardens actively preventing interoperability.
That, and the ‘agentic’ part requires LLMs et. al. to have ANY ability to do actual, direct logic. Which they fundamentally cannot do.
It’s ALL projection from us humans having given these words meaning. Any sign of intelligence is just that human-created meaning in the training data showing through. It is never, ever the LLM et. al. actually thinking.
Yeah we got the boring dystopia version where AI is just spam machines trained on our own words instead of intelligent machines who realize we’re destroying our own environment and replace us (still a dystopia from our perspective, but less boring)
Idk if it was AI but twice lately I’ve ordered something from ebay specifically to avoid purchasing on amazon and the seller has shipped me the item directly from amazon.
I hear ya’ on Amazon… It’s ridiculous. Lots of small shops also just use Amazon as their store front, too. You go to THEIR website, click on THEIR “add to cart” or “shop” button … and bam, Amazon.
uggghh.
Yet internally all customer data is fed into several AI agents, doing god knows what with your information. Use craigslist if in the US. Kleinanzeigen, Tutti and Vinted are platform alternatives in Europe. Or best of all, find a local thriftshop or visit a boot sale / fleamarket.
