Wow crazy seeing a theater I have subscription tickets on here. This is the Paramount Theater in Aurora Illinois, about 40 miles west of Chicago, and the home of Wayne in Wayne’s World.

    Some context: https://archive.ph/p45Wl

That said, I was pissssd when they announced a single Seinfeld show, and then offered tickets at like $800

Now, at the same time, the Trump arts and grants clawbacks cost them a lot, at first they were warned by the city they would lose 3-4 million of 7 million given to them by the city, but when the budget came out in November all 7 million was cut.

So they are in a huge cash crunch, and I don’t know if they really had much of a choice after the tickets were sold and the protest started.

Besides the Seinfield crap the paramount really is quite a gem. It does 4 broadway shows a year, and they really rival the broadway shows in downtown Chicago. Until this year they also had a smaller 4 show package that were across the street at the Copley Center. Smaller shows and plays were also pretty great. When they were warned of the funding cut for 2026 the paramount cancelled the remaining 3 Bold series shows and only completed the first one of the four.

A ticket for all four broadway shows is like $150 for floor if you subscribe. It’s also a school of performing arts. They are inclusive and pretty awesome. I’m hoping this was a desperate misstep in the search for money to not have to close the theater and school.

I completely agree with the protesters but I also stand by the general good the paramount has done for the community for the last 15 years or so.
