Microsoft gives my execs nice all inclusive all expenses paid retreats to think it over.

My department just gives them a PDF explaining with cool graphics how Linux can save more money, how more secure it is, how we can avoid the constant force fed bug filled updates that MSFT pushes, how we can customize it exactly to our and users needs, we can actually own our own keys… The goes on and on.

But they’ve already decided which OS we use and they never even open the email we sent them.

  • I just got off the phone with a solar installer and they had 2 products, one which cost nearly 60-100k to install and could be done right away because of a deal with my local gov and electric utility. Also the net metering rate and credits are getting reduced by the same utility which is actually making a return on investment harder.

    OR

Another solar product costs 40k but it may take years to get approval which is not guaranteed because so far every attempt for approval from the local gov and electric utility have been in limbo or flat out denied.

    🤔

  • That’s the thing I am trying to point out. Like if you get lucky some of their models appear near perfect and seem to keep lasting forever.

But I’ve experienced the other side of the coin where I had a hard hardware failure on a hdd, the warranty and replacement process was insanely painful. Then when I finally got a replacement it also had a failure. Same painful replacement process. The 3rd one wasn’t even the same model but at least it worked.

One of the sister drives of the first one had a hardware failure shortly afterwards. I didn’t even bother going through the RMA process and just migrated to Samsungs.
