So by your logic, a child produced through “nefarious means” is also inherently evil.


The crux of that article is buying into Heidegger‘a definition of a tool, specifically, “thing that lets you do something you wouldn’t otherwise have been able to.” If you disagree with that premise, the article doesn’t hold up.
Tools aren’t about letting you do something you would otherwise not have been able to do, they are simply a force multiplier for capability or efficiency. You still need knowledge and skills to do the thing.
I am not a carpenter. My knowledge and skills are near zero. This multiplied by any number is still damn near zero, and I have no idea about the culture, safety, or history of carpentry. I’m not stupid enough to jump right into using an lathe without a lot of research or someone to guide me, because I’m not a fucking moron.
People with programming knowledge and skills using AI will eventually figure out a workflow that works. Laypeople using AI to vibe code? They’re probably fucking morons. Sure, maybe even most of the time, it will be fine. But eventually, someone is going to be degloved.


If you ever do computer shit, buy one decent length Thunderbolt 5 cable. It will be much more clearly marked, and it’s compatible with USB4.
USB-C is a fucking nightmare, just treat them all as charging cables unless it is explicitly obvious.

I have one smaller box in the office with “modern” cables that are still useful, a bigger box in a closet with duplicates and less occasionally useful cables, then a last box with… vintage computer shit that I never touch.
Box one still has one of each of USB-C to Lightning, USB-C to 2.0 Micro, USB 3.1 A-to-B cable, and USB 3.1 C to micro-B, and a few thunderbolt 4 and 5 cables (fully compatible with USB-C, but easier to identify high speed certified cables than the utter USB-C compliance nightmare). Any other USB-C cables are assumed to be charging cables. It also has a few CAT6A, DisplayPort, and Ultra-certified HDMI cables, as well as a few still-useful dongles to round it out.
I somewhat recently relegated all of my USB-A chargers and cables, all of my USB-A to lightning, micro-, and mini- USB cables, and all non-ultra HDMI cables to box two.
When I moved, all coax cables and pre-CAT6 Ethernet cables got moved to box three.


Hence the Tehuantepec Interoceanic Corridor in Mexico, which is an overland rail project, but as with any mega project, is rife with its own problems with deforestation and displacement of indigenous peoples.


So if we assume they manage to build a fully rapidly reusable rocket and launch infrastructure (the latter of which is incredibly questionable), the only marginal cost increase is just labor to conduct the launches and consumables.
And the physics says more like 17 launches, but at the end of the day, that’s just how much it costs to send 200 tons to the moon, AND bring the rocket back. They’re not jettisoning stages or leaving the rocket behind in the moon like Apollo.
The numbers are mind boggling, and short of nuclear rockets and space elevators, there is literally no way to do this short of many, many, many tiny launches, and it’s way less risky to have those tiny launches refill a tanker in LEO than to send 20 launches to the moon independently. Plus there would be no way to send large pre assembled components like nuclear reactors and construction/manufacturing equipment. Everything would have to be manufactured and assembled on the moon.

HDR in Wayland using KDE Plasma 6.6 and GNOME 50 is supported on NVIDIA-open-595.58.03 and later.
A lot of specific applications still suck, including Firefox, but HDR is supported on AMD and NVIDIA.

From what I can see, this is something the Thunderbird team had developed for their own internal tooling, and they’re open sourcing it.


After reading through the GitHub docs, the most impressive thing is that they open sourced their Thunderbolt coding agent for Claude Code. There are quite a few skills available for implementation planning, dependency/build environment setup, coding, linting/cleanup, QA, and managing agent pull requests. Pretty good examples if you are looking at building Claude Code skills.


It sounds like a step further than open-webui; it’s an enterprise grade client-server model for access to agents, workflows, and centralized knowledge repositories for RAG.
In addition to local chatbot for executive/admin use, I can see this being the backend for developers running Cursor or some other AI enhanced IDE, with local knowledge stores holding proprietary documents and running against local large models.
I am also curious about time share and prioritization of resources; I assume it would queue simultaneous requests. Presumably this would let you more effectively pool local compute, rather than providing A100 GPUs to each developer that may sit unused when they’re not working.
Edit: Somewhat impressively, this whole stack does not even include a local inference provider; so it does everything except local models right now, and requests are forwarded to cloud inference providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc). But it does have the backend started for rate limiting and queuing, and true “fully offline/local” is on the roadmap, just not there yet.

Hilarious that this happens before anything formal could be established with the UK.
The Scandinavian countries, UK, and Australia also seem well positioned to join once they hash out what exactly this means above and beyond existing trade and defense deals.
