I was going to comment on that but didn’t want to get burned at the stake. I agree the Edsel was a pretty good looking car, even if it wasn’t completely conventional for the time period. The cybertruck almost looked good in its early concept days before it got turned into a literal dumpster fire.
IDK, the Edsel was at least reasonably priced.
I think about this a lot and if you can even consider Linux phones in their infancy. There are no modern Linux phones that fully work as a phone. Its the joke about this being the year of Linux over and over. Ubuntu touch was started in 2011 and since then it hasn’t changed or advanced in any meaningful way. Every other Linux phone distro is basically the same story. I would love to even be able to get a Jolla phone in the US, but that’s not an option. I occasionally see people say they are using Linux phones as a daily driver, and then find out they are using some obscure or ancient hard to get phone. Or better yet, it’s just a secondary phone. They are a curiosity at best which makes me sad.
Idk. I wouldn’t be shocked if he came out with some sort of neighborhood mobility kit car that costs $30k. There are actually already multiple “car” options that are similar but none are FOSS and all are basically glorified gokarts that aren’t street legal. I imagine this will end up being the same kind of thing, a wealthy persons play toy.
I mean, cool. But has he actually shown anything? So far I’ve just seen well edited videos and nothing of substance other than owning a warehouse. 🤷
He’s been talking about it for years and from what I’ve seen has never shown a single thing. He seems to jump around between different vaguely related side hustles.
Except they aren’t designed to be used that way or marketed that way. Just because they could be useful in certain niche scenarios doesn’t mean most of them are used that way. Also, sign language is too complex for accurate translation using cameras like this. It utilizes facial expressions and space to determine context and intention.
I was really determined to get one, partially because I love the cotton candy pink, don’t judge. But now that memory and ram prices went up, it went from a premium price to absolutely insane. I’m just gonna stick with my old thinkpad another decade or so at this rate.
They also continue to shove shitty AI into every corner of their devices with no way to easily remove or disable it. I’ve had a lot of Pixel devices and honestly they just keep getting worse. As I’ve moved away from Google products, I no longer have a strong reason to stick with them, other than Graphene OS, and soon I’ll have Motorola as a replacement option.
