It is. But now I want cooking-related metaphors for the relentless attacks coming in from everywhere, the need for encryption etc. Please.

fonts-linuxlibertinepackage, and Linux Libertine O would be the accompanying serif font. This is how they look together:

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK You can buy a @linux.com domain for email flexEnglish
4·21 hours agoThe “From” part is configurable per specification, it’s called identities. Good email clients will have config options for that.
But there’s an extra part that the server needs to provide so that Google doesn’t think you’re doing something “nefarious” (read: using email as it’s intended to be used but not as Google wants it to be used).

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK You can buy a @linux.com domain for email flexEnglish
24·24 hours agoProperly set up, it’s more than a vanity project - it’s an eternal email address.
Because, properly set up, you can also send mail from that address (or at least that’s how it appears to recipients).Another email provider fucks you over? NP, just point your redirecting address somewhere else.
As someone who’s been using a similar service for over a decade, the end user and both providers need to set the thing up properly. Thankfully mine is dedicated.
So,
you should check with linux.com (?) how serious they are about it(edit: according to the screenshot above, not very), if you want to use this seriously.

2·1 day agoYeah despite having lots of neoliberals (pro business basically) and other forms of *cough* conservatism, people still believe in the democratic process and regulations. It’s not getting better though, there’s a plague going 'round the globe…

And yes, this is meant as a stark warning. Listen to countries like the Baltics: they have experience.

2·1 day agoWhile tariffs mainly impact your own people, and fill the government’s coffers, they also impact imports, i.e. Mexican exports in this case.
WRT the USA:
They have exploited and bled their own country dry, now they are turning to their neighbors. Soon the whole North American continent will look like the Midwest.

Wow.
Trumpism has become a brand of politics. Of course one could also just call it fascism, emboldened by MAGA’s success. There’s more than one EU country now that has fully succumbed. And quite a few partially. Don’t forget those while fascinated by the US government’s atrocities.

11·1 day agoGreetings from Finland (literally the other side of the globe).
We went from a solid social-democratic government (and thank doG we had them during Covid, they managed it near perfectly) to an unholy coalition of neoliberals, conservatives and fascists, pardon me, far-right populists.
The results are palpable after a bit over 2 years now; esp. low and no income people are getting fucked over hard, misbehaving fascists make the news, while prestige projects cost a multitude of what was saved from the poor. And of course they’re harping on immigration, too, although Finland really does not have that many to start with.
But tbh I have no idea how the new regime affects our own indigenous people.Thankfully this is still a well functioning democratic state and you can’t just willy-nilly “executive order” things.

Technology@lemmy.world•Trump Mobile execs showcase the T1 Phone's new design and specs, and say the phones go through “final assembly” in Miami and full assembly in the US is a “goal”English
11·1 day agoTBF to OP, the article is pretty critical of the whole grift. If they ever get there at all, it’ll be a pretty basic mid-range phone with an American flag on it, that’s all.
I’d be surprised if even the final assembly in Miami is an actual promise.

No you didn’t. It’s not going anywhere, but it will always be a minority compared to SAAS.
